Appleton City, MO 18 September 1913 Copeland News: C.E. Taylor of Appleton City was looking after business interests in these parts the fore part of the week. Oscar Smith and Walter Kirk returned to their homes here after a few weeks spent in the west. Mrs. G.B. Dorward and son, Alec, and daughter Goldie ate Sunday dinner with W.H. Rice and wife. Miss Nellie Rice visited Miss Ruby Powers Sunday. School began at White Hall a week ago with Miss Marie Miller as teacher. We have had some good rains the past week. H.E. Goodenough and family attended the Montrose fair Wednesday of last Week. Earl Noble and wife visited at the Dorward home Saturday. Mr. Sapp and family of Henry County visited at E.B. Baldwin's Sunday. Mrs. Simmons and family who have been visiting her mother, Mrs. Oaks for a few days, left for home the fore part of last week. Sam Lewellen spent one night last week with his sister, Mrs. H.E. Goodenough. A good many from around here attended the Montrose fair last week. Mt. Zion News: A baby girl was born to Mr. and Mrs. Lawn Davis last week. Mrs. James Allison and daughter and son, Edith and Addis were in Appleton City Saturday. Miss Alma Rosbrough went to Rockville Saturday where she will begin her school work Monday. Little Ruby Carroll was quite sick last week. Mr. and Mrs. George Allison returned Tuesday from Kentwood, La. They bought land near Wilner, La., and expect to move to the same about the seventh of October. Miss Elna Allison visited Saturday night with Miss Ethel Thompson. Mrs. Ida Barnett and son Guy left Monday for Sedalia, Mo., where Guy will enter business college. Garland Waters will farm George Allison's place the coming year. Dan Waters' mother, Mrs. Carroll of Osceola, visited him part of last week. Mrs. John Rosbrough and Mrs. Jessie Johnson called at George Allison's Saturday afternoon. Clay Heath left Saturday for Montana. Reynard Notes: John Browning and Dick Bailey bought quite a bunch of cattle over here Saturday. Mrs. George Brown is visiting in Illinois, her former home. George is batching and thinks it is like old times to be alone. Uncle John Fox spent Sunday at the home of John Mock. Len Griffin and family of Papinsville were over and attended church at Hook's Chapel Sunday. Uncle James Masterson is spending a few days with C.C. Peeler. Elmo Nearhoff went to Kansas City Friday to spend a few days and to find a position for the winter. Rev. Puckett filled his last appointment for the year Sunday and will go to the Conference Wednesday. Mrs. Ed Britt will shortly go to Oklahoma where she will visit her father and other friends. The fine rain Monday and Tuesday has helped the looks of things and given some stock water in the creeks. Town Property for Sale |
