Appleton City, MO 16 October 1919 Miss Myrtle Russell spent the week end with Mrs. George Siegusmund in Osage. Emmett McCormack has leased the farm and stock of G.N. Russell and will soon take possession of the premises. On Saturday evening Miss Carol Huff entertained a few friends at a rook party. After the game they enjoyed music and recitations. Refreshments of cakes and cocoa and apples were served. Those present were: Mr. and Mrs. Bert Meyer, Misses Winnie and Goldie Bennett, Ada Barnett, Ethel Chappell, Grace Nolte, Marle Walker, Josephine Evans, Messrs. Everett Midkiff, Harley Bennett, Ed Willems, Gene Siegusmund, Ross Smith, Harve and Bert Chappell. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Carter and children spent a pleasant day on Sunday with Claud Smith and family. The Rockville Prairie City band gave a concert on the streets on Sunday afternoon. J.W. Evans had a car of fine apples shipped in recently. Virginia and Robert Huff spent Sunday with Lerosa and Payton Parks. Mr. and Mrs. J.N. McDavitt, Mrs. S.J. Garling and daughter, Miss Alma, drove to Butler Sunday afternoon. Interesting sermons were delivered at the Baptist Church Sunday morning and evening. Non-resident students attending the Rockville High School: Wilbert Steiner, Rosena Hauser, Gladys Fix, Lilburn Carter, Elbert Gragg, August Schellman. Last month we had a total of 140 students enrolled with 137 average daily attendance. The public school will have a circus Thursday eve, October 30th. Miss Williams of the high school faculty spent Monday night in Appleton City with her mother, who is ill. Wormy children are unhappy, puny and sickly. They can’t be otherwise while worms eat away their strength and vitality. A few doses o White’s Cream Vermifuge performs a marvelous transformation. Cheerfulness, strength and the rosy bloom of health speedily return. Sold by all druggists. Prairie Home News: The protracted meeting at Prairie Home is being well attended. J.C. Barnett returned home last Friday after visiting J.D. Ross for about two weeks. Fred Jackson was shopping in Taberville last Saturday evening. L.A. Morris met with an accident one day last week. He fell from a wagon and broke two ribs, but is getting better at this writing. Mary Lila Barnett spent Wednesday night with Pansy and Alice Dains. A.M. Hopkins and J.C. Barnett were shopping in Monegaw Springs Saturday evening. Elmer Sagaser was a welcome visitor at Prairie Home School Wednesday of last week. |
