CALVIN JAMES

Calvin James was born in Tyler county, West Virginia, March 9, 1848;
departed this life at his home in Roscoe, Mo., March 29, 1928, aged 89
years and 20 days.
He was first married to Anna Taggart. To this union six children were
born, two of whom (a daughter and son), and his wife, have preceded
him to the Great Beyond. The four living children are: Mrs. Flora
Anderson of Roscoe, Mo.; Mrs. Eta Wardrip of Griswold, Iowa; Al James
of Bentonville, Mo.; Will James of Washington.
He was married to Mrs. Eliz Moore in 1906, who survives him. He also
leaves two brothers – Warren James of Quincy, MO., and Paul James of
Oklahoma.
He was an old soldier of the Civil War, serving four years in the
Union army. He united with the Christian Church in 1906.
Funeral services were held in the Roscoe Christian church at 8 o’clock
March 30, by E.D. Strohm, pastor of the church. He forcibly impressed
the audience with the wonderful hope of immortality. In honor of the
deceased all the business houses were closed for the funeral.
