Funeral services for Laura A. Allen were Saturday, October 18 at 2:00
p.m. in the Gerster Baptist Church. The Reverend Jack Kiefer and Tom
Sharp officiated. Music was provided by the church choir.
Casketbearers were Ross Allen, Alfred Baumgarden, Edward Burns, Gerald
Burns, Gene Oakes, and Dwight Ringhaussen. Interment was in the King’s
Prairie Cemetery under the direction of the Goodrich Funeral Home.
Laura Alma Burns, daughter of Irving Eugene and Francis Ellen Elliott
Burns, was born July 23, 1894 in Mounds City, Missouri and died
October 16, 1980 at the Sac-Osage Hospital in Osceola, Missouri. She
was one of the oldest member of the Gerster Baptist Church and a
faithful member as long as her health permitted.
On November 28, 1915, she was married to Thomas Richard Allen. To this
union, one daughter, Oleva Faye, was born.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters, and one
brother. She is survived by one daughter, Oleva Slocum and her
son-in-law, Harve of Osceola; two grandchildren, Wilbur Slocum and
wife Anita of Clinton and Alma Faye Elton and husband Bill of Osceola;
three great-grandchildren, Stacy, Pam, and Jill; one sister, Ella
Baumgarden of The Dalles, Oregon and one brother, Charles Burns of
Merriam, Kansas. Also, many other relatives and friends.

Card of Thanks
We wish to thank our friends and relatives for the flowers and prayers
during the loss of our loved one, Laura Allen. Also to the Gerster
Baptist Church for the preparation of the noon meal and all others who
brought food. Al special thanks to the ones who helps us care for her
while she was still at home. Thank you for sharing your time and
caring. May God bless you all.
