William Embrey Dead
William Embrey, an old and respected citizen of Taberville, died at
his home one mile south of Taberville on Sunday, January 4, 1920, of
pneumonia, after about a week’s illness. Deceased was born in Butler
County, Kentucky, September 12, 1839. He was married to Mary
Funderburk near Stanton, Ill., October 9, 1866. To this union were
born seven children, five of whom are living. He united with the
Christian Church at Silver Creek, Illinois in 1871, and for 49 years
his life has been consistent with his profession. For the last thirty
years he has lived on a beautiful eminence overlooking the Osage
River. He was 80 years, 3 months and 23 days old. His funeral services
were conducted at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church by H.E. Carpenter
of the Appleton City Christian Church, January 5th, in the presence of
a large and sympathetic audience, after which the remains were laid to
rest in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery. He leaves his faithful wife, five
children, a number of grandchildren and a host of friends who will be
deeply grieved over the loss of husband, father and neighbor.
