Benjamin Ethridge Dies October 21
Funeral services for Benjamin Franklin Ethridge were held this past
Wednesday afternoon at the First Baptist Church conducted by the
pastor, the Rev. Frank Claiborne. Special music was provided by a
quartet composed of Mrs. Kenneth Purvis, Mr. and Mrs. David Huff, and
Rev. Earl Bearce accompanied by Mrs. Frank Claiborne.
Bearers for the services were C. E. Bearce, A. E. Allis, C.C.
Peipmeier, H. C. Schlichtman, D. P. Huff and Lyle Pierce. Interment
was in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery under the direction of the
Lee-Janseens Funeral Home.
Mr. Ethridge was born on March 9, 1874, the son of Thomas and Hannah
Ethridge, at Tiffin, Missouri. He departed this life on October 21,
1956 at the age of 82 years, seven months and twelve days.
He was married to Julia Englert in 1902 and they lived in and near
Harwood, Mo., until 1929 when they moved to Appleton City. To this
union seven children were born, three of whom passed away in
childhood. Survivors include his wife of the home; three sons and one
daughter; Emerson Ethridge of Broken Arrow, Okla.; Glen Ethridge of
Garden City, Mo.; Jack Ethridge of Kansas City, Mo.; and Ethel Nolin
of Nevada, Mo.; also six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
He had been a faithful and loyal member of the First Baptist Church
until his inability to attend services.
