J. Wilbur Gilbert, 82, of Quincy and Pleasant Hope, passed away at his home in Pleasant Hope on Nov. 3, 2006, following a long illness.
He was born Aug. 16, 1924, in Quincy in St. Clair County to Fred R. and Maudie E. Bailey Gilbert. He was a school bus contractor and driver for 40 years with the Weaubleau School District and the University of Missouri 4-H Extension Service. He was a member of the Hogels Creek Lodge.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Survivors include his wife, Doris, of 24 years; three children; four step-children; and 19 grandchildren and great-children.
Graveside services were Tuesday, Nov. 7, at Mount Zion Cemetery, Quincy, with Rev. Tom Sharp officiating.
