CHARLES P. POSTLEWAIT
St. Clair County (MO) Democrat
At the age of 66 years, 4 months and 10 days Charles Palmer Postlewait
departed this life in the Santa Fe Hospital at Topeka KS where he had
been a patient for the past month.
He was born Feb 25, 1879 at Vibbard MO., the son of John T. and
Dorothy Ann Postlewait.
During his early manhood he was a teacher in the public schools of St.
Clair and Ray Counties in Missouri and also in Oklahoma.
In the year 1909 he was united in marriage to Grace Hopkins at Monegaw
Springs. To this union was born one daughter, Darline.
The family moved from MO to St. Francis, TX where he was employed as a
railroad telegrapher, later moving to New Mexico where his wife,
Grace, departed this life in the year 1926.
Later coming to Thatcher CO, his present home, where he met and
married Anna Mae Rowe, Aug. 23, 1934.
After 27 years of service on the railroad he retired in 1944 and moved
to his ranch home near Thatcher CO.
In his younger days he was united with the Christian Union Chapel at
Vibbard, MO.
He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge of Osceola, MO.
He was loved and highly respected by friends and neighbors who knew
him best.
He leaves to mourn his wife, Anna Mae Postlewait of Thatcher CO, his
daughter Darline Bourland of Thatcher, 2 brothers, Abe Postlewait of
Topeka KS and John J. Postlewait of Lowry City, 5 grandchildren and
many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at Lowry City Methodist Church by Rev.
Steinhardt under direction of Austin Funeral Home with graveside
services conducted by members of the Masonic Order at the Lowry City
Cemetery.
