I'm so excited that you found our site! I hope you enjoy the information that is provided, and find new information on your family. I strive to document all of the sources and hope you return to Howell County soon. My name is Kimberly Taylor Morgan and I'm the new county coordinator as of Jul 2025. I'm redoing the site and location of info. Please be patient, I will work as quickly as I can.
I will be replacing the mailing list/active queries with a Howell County, Missouri Facebook Account
I'm currently revising the previous site so please be patient.
St. Clair County is in the western part of Missouri and was organized in 1841 and was named after General Arthur St. Clair, Governor of the Northwest Territory. For more about St. Clair County, please see About & History of St. Clair County under Resources.

The ChosenWe are the chosen. In each family there is one who seems called to find the ancestors. To put flesh on their bones and make them live again. To tell the family story and to feel that somehow they know and approve. Doing genealogy is not a cold gathering of facts but, instead, breathing life into all who have gone before. We are the story tellers of the tribe. All tribes have one. We have been called, as it were, by our genes. Those who have gone before cry out to us: Tell our story. So, we do. In finding them, we somehow find ourselves. How many graves have I stood before now and cried? I have lost count. How many times have I told the ancestors, "You have a wonderful family; you would be proud of us.". How many times have I walked up to a grave and felt somehow there was love there for me? I cannot say. It goes beyond just documenting facts. It goes to who I am, and why I do the things I do. by Della M. Cummings Wright, author; Rewritten by her granddaughter Dell Jo Ann McGinnis Johnson; Edited and Reworded by Tom Dunn, 1943.
"I always wanted to be somebody, but now I realize I should have been more specific."
"If you shake your family tree, watch for the nuts to fall."
"Only a genealogist regards a step backwards as progress."
I have six locks on my door all in a row. When I go out, I lock every other one. I figure no matter how long somebody stands there picking the locks, they are always locking three.
My
name is Kimberly and I've been doing my family history for over 30
years. I found USGenWeb and Rootsweb in 1999 and became a
county coordinator for several counties. I wasn't able to
maintain the sites due to time constraints. I returned in Dec
2024 and have been heavily involved with MOGenWeb and have adopted
several counties.
