Assessment Roll for St Clair Co MO, for the year of 1863, under an Act
entitled,

"An Act to provide for the means for the Payment and Support of the
Enrolled Militia Forces of the State of Missouri”;

approved March 9, 1863, and the Act supplemental thereto (1864).

Transcribed from Missouri State Archives microfilm reel #1 (1968 number). Apparently this Act included only those men age 18 through 45 who were liable to military service but were not enrolled in a
Union unit. Tax was assessed at 1% of value of real estate plus a flat tax of $30 per man. Abstracted by Betty Harvey Williams.
