Production: 4058 tons
Several mines are in operation in different parts of the county; but only in a small way to supply home consumption.

Appleton City Post Office:
All the mines operated in the fall and winter for local use.

Iuka Springs Post Office:
The following parties are operating mines in this area - M. Caskins, A.J. Davis, J.D. Short, Frank Hines, M. Richmond, Fred Manta.

Lowry City Post Office:
The Red Rock mine has been operated by M. Chambers, it is a drift mine opening, from 8 to 10 men employed.
E.D. Jones of Kansas City has bought 600 A. with the intention of opening up a number of mines. The land is all underlaid with coal about 3 feet in thickness.

There are mines operated at Johnson, Taberville, Osceola, and Vista and other places during fall and winter months.
