Thomas Bert Pilant and Talitha Alice Simms
Bert Pilant was born 1884 Gerster, MO. and married Talitha Alice Simms
on Jan 5th 1902 at her fathers home in Gerster. Talitha's father was
Rev. John D. Simms, who rode horseback leading another horse 10 miles
to fetch the preacher to marry them and later returned him home. Talitha
was just 16 and made a cake out of cupcakes placed around a plate with
another layer and still another until there was only one on top. It was iced
with white icing and decorated with red-hots. Everyone admired how much
in love they were.
