In vacation May 18th 1857
William Ludwick – Plaintiff
against
Henry Litonbiger and George R. Copenhaver and Maria Wessinger Blasse
– Defendants
Petition to correct Deed and obtain title to land
Now at this day comes the plaintiff and files in the office of the
Clerk of the Circuit Court of St. Clair County Missouri his petition
verified by affidavit the object and general nature of which is to
obtain a decree from said Circuit Court Correcting the description
of a Certain tract of land and to vest in Said plaintiff a fee
Simple title to the Same Said from the Claims of all of Said
defendants and from the heirs of al or either of them so as to carry
out original contracts between all of said parties And which said
tract of land Claimed is described in Said petition at the North
West

quarter of Section No. 35 in Township No. 39 of Range No. 27
Containing 160 acres in St. Clair County Missouri which Said land
Said plaintiff avers was entered by Said Lontsenhizer and by him
Sold for valuable consideration and attempted to be by him conveyed
to said H. Capinger and that Said plaintiff purchased the Same of
said Klessinger and paid him the Sum of Five hundred dollars for the
Same and that said Klessinger Sold and plaintiffs purchased and paid
for in good faith the lands first above described But through
mistake Loutenhizer conveyed by Deed to Klessinger and that
Klepsinger and his Said wife conveyed by Deed to Said Plaintiff the
North West quarter of Section 25 Township 39 Range 27 Containing 160
acres and that Loutsourhizer and said Klessinger had no other land
in St. Clair County Missouri at the time of said Sales and lands of
except the said North (SW quarter of Section No. 35 in township No.
37 of Range No. 27. And it appearing from Said affidavit that all of
said defendants are non residents of the State of Missouri. It is
therefore ordered by the undersigned Clerk of Said St. Clair Circuit
in vacation that you Henry Loutsenhizer, George Klessinger and Maria
Klessinger defendants be notified of the commencement of this Suit
And that unless you and each of you be and appear before Said Court
at the next term thereof which will be begun and held at the Court
house in the town of Osceola on the 1st Monday in September next and
on or before the fourth day of Said term answer or demur to said
petition the Same will be taken as confessed And it is further
ordered that a copy of this order be published in the Osceola
Independent as the law requires.

Isabella King, Tillah J. Parks and John H. Parks, William W. King,
Robert S. King, Martha E. King and Wilson C.H. King – Plaintiffs
Against
Lacy C. King, Louisa Paralee King, William Drury King and John
Wilson King – Defendants
Civil Action for partition and sale of Slaves
Now at this day comes the plaintiffs and files in the office of the
clerk of the Circuit Court of St. Clair County Missouri their
petition verified by affidavit the object and general nature of
which is to obtain from Said Circuit Court a Judgment and decree for
partition and division of the following named Slaves To wit: one
negro woman named Amy. One negro woman named Gehoda Jane and one
negro girl named Amanda Isabel and for a Sale thereof and division
of the proceeds among the parties entitled thereto according to
their respective rights and interests if partition cannot be made in
kind And Setting forth among other things that Said Isabella King is
entitled to the use of Said Slaves for and during her natural life
but no longer desires the Care and Control of Said Slaves and that
Said Slaves belong to the parties to this Suit as Set forth in said
petition. And it appearing from Said affidavit That the Said
Defendants Louisa Paralee King, William Drury King and John Wilson
King are nonresidents of the State of Missouri. It is therefore
ordered by the undersigned Clerk of said St. Clair Circuit Court in
vacation that you Louisa Paralee King, William Drury King and John
Wilson King Defendants as aforesaid be notified of the Commencement
of this Suit and that unless you and each of you be and appear
before Said Court at the next term thereof which will be begun and
held at the

Court house in the Town of Osceola on the first Monday in September
next and on or before the fourth day of Said term answer or demur to
said petition the Same will be taken as confessed as to you at you
Said nonresidents defendants And it is further ordered that a Copy
of this order be published in the “Osceola Independent” as the law
requires.

Calvin Parks – Plaintiff

Civil Action
Now at this day comes the said plaintiff and pays off the costs of
this Suit And dismisses the Same. It is therefore ordered by the
undersigned clerk of the Circuit Court of St. Clair county Missouri
that this Suit be dismissed and discontinued.

Civil Action
Now at this day comes the said plaintiffs by W.P. Johnson their
attorney and dismisses this Suit at their Costs and pay up the Same
And on his motion he is by me authorized to withdraw Note Sued on by
leaving a true copy of the same on file which is accordingly done
And Said Suit is by me the undersigned clerk of the Circuit Court of
St. Clair county Mo. Ordered to be dismissed and discontinued.

James Duane – Plff
Vs
Elihu O. Hatstead & Lewis B. Lent – Defts
Civil action by Attachment
Now at this day comes the Said Plaintiff and files herein his
affidavit and bond for an attachment against said Defendants and the
Said Bond being by me deemed good and Sufficient A writ of
attachment was by me Issued returnable to the next term of the
Circuit court of St. Clair county Missouri against the property of
said defendants and delivered to the Sheriff of St. Clair County Mo.
And again on the same day come the Said Plaintiffs by William A.
McClain his attorney and asks leave to withdraw the Note and
accompanying protest Sued on and dismiss this Suit And pays up all
costs in this Cause Whereupon leave is granted to Said Plaintiff to
withdraw Said note and protest upon leaving on file a true copy of
said note Sued on which is accordingly done whereupon It is ordered
by the undersigned Clerk of the circuit court of St. Clair County
Mo. that this Suit be dismissed and discontinued.
