Atsy L. Eads, January 22, 1907 - August 18, 2009.
Mrs. Atsy Leah Eads, 102, Weaubleau, died Tuesday, August, 18, 2009 in
Christian Health Care of Nixa. The daughter of James Henry and
Beatrice Virginia (Murphy) Breshears, she was born at Avery in Hickory
county.
During World War II she worked in a garment factory making uniforms
for soldiers. She was a baker at bakeries in Kansas City and
volunteered to work in the kitchen at church camp each summer.
Atsy was a member of Bethel Tabernacle Assembly of God in Kansas City.
She lived on a farm west of Collins for 25 years before to moving to
Weaubleau where she lived for 24 years. She lived in her own home
until over the age of 100 and for the past 1 ˝ years she had resided
at Christian Healthcare of Nixa.
She was married to Robert H. Eads and they were the parents of 2
children, Wallace Eads and June Chambers.
Survivors include 9 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and
great-greatgrandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, August 22, 2009 in
Murray Funeral Home, Humansville with Rev. Joe Mezzacasa officiating.
Interment will be in Robinson Cemetery west of Weaubleau. Visitation
will be Saturday from 12 until 1:00 PM.
EATON, Fae Fox Wright

Fae Eaton was born to Thomas and Audra [Greenwell] Fox on Jan. 11,
1912 in Independence, Oregon. She departed this life March 11, 2010 at
Truman Lake Manor at the age of 98 years and two months.
She grew up in the Osceola community where she attended grade school
and graduated from Osceola High School in 1931. As a child she
attended church at the Osceola Baptist Church. She was saved at the
age of 18, was baptised and joined the church. She was a Sunday School
teacher for many years.
Fae had two brothers; Roy Fox and Bill Woolery, three sisters;Maxine
Cornwell, Irma Lee Dover and Mary Margaret Swinney.
She taught school seven years in one-room schoolhouses in the Bear
creek, Shady Grove and Kelley school communities in St. Clair County.
She attended Southwest Missouri Teachers College and Central Missouri
Teacher's College and earned her teaching certificate.
In the sumer of 1938, she went to California to visit her Uncle Park
and his wife Verna Greenwell and stayed there. Her mother, brothers
and sisters soon followed. California became her home until 1968.
She married Ralph Cleveland Wright on September 10, 1940. They made
their home in Fullerton, California. In 1968 Ralph was badly injured
in an accident while at work for Boeing Aircraft. After his long
recouperation, they moved to Fowler, Colorado to be near an elderly
aunt, Eunice Nelson. In 1974 they moved to Clinton to be near Ralph's
mother and family.
Ralph preceded her in death in May of 1993. She was also preceded in
death by her parents; two brothers; two sisters and her nephew,
Stephen Woolery.
She is survived by one sister, Maxine Cornwell and seven nieces and
nephews. They are: Mike Paget, Candy Dover, Kenneth Geddy, Lynn Elder,
Linda Artz, Kathy Clark and Joseph Woolery.
Since 2003 she made her home as a resident of Truman Lake Manor, Lowry
City.
Services were Tuesday, March 16 at Wright's Creek Cemetery. Minister
was Elder J.D. Baker.
Interment Wright's Creek Cemetery.

EATON, George Henry
George H. Eaton died Friday, April 2, 1936 at Iconium from a heart
attack, He is the father of Jess Eaton of Iconium. He had lived with
his son and family a number of years. George Henry, was born in
Clarion County, PA. on August 31, 1850. He was united in marriage to
Louisa Hughes, October 31, 1870 in Benton County, Missouri. Where they
lived until her death on November 27, 1918.
His survivors include two sons, Jessie Sanford of the home, John
Franklin of Des Moines, Iowa. and 3 daughters, Lucy Wear of Kansas
City, Mo.; Georgia Phillips of St Louis, MO.; and Laura Bell Dickerson
of Tulsa, OK. burial in the Iconium cemetery.

The funeral services were held from the Iconium Baptist church this
[Thursday] afternoon at two o'clock for Jessie Sanford Eaton, who died
suddenly Tuesday afternoon as he was enroute to the store at Iconium.
The Rev. Kenneth Nichols officiated. Burial was in the Iconium
cemetery under the direction of the Osceola Funeral Home.
Jessie Sanford Eaton, son of G.H. and Louisa "Hughes" Eaton, was born
at Aullville, MO. on July 19, 1885 and departed this life near his
home at Iconium on Tuesday, April 4th,[1944] at the age of 58 years, 8
months, and 16 days. He was united in marriage to Ruth Ann Anglin,
August 9, 1923. To this union seven children were born.
He had been in failing health for almost four years, but his sudden
death came as a shock to relatives and friends.
Though he had never made an open profession in Christ, he had often
said that he was convinced that there was a higher power.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Mrs Ruth Eaton, seven
children, Myrl, George, Frank, Jack, Billy, and Alonzo, all of the
home. and Mrs Wesley "Louise" Ackers of Kansas City; one brother,
Frank Eaton of Des Moines, Iowa; two sisters, Mrs. Lacy Wear of Kansas
City and Mrs. Georgia Phillips of St Louis, also a number of distant
relatives.
He was a devoted husband, a kind and loving father and will be sadly
missed in his home and community.
EATON, Robert Leao

Robert Leao Eaton passed away at Golden Valley Memorial Hospital on
April 7, 2006, due to pneumonia and emphysema. He was born in
Independence on Aug. 22, 1926, to Edward and Margaret Dippo Eaton.
Robert was a son of 14 children.
Robert was united in marriage to Georgie Waneta Richey on Aug. 28,
1948, at Butler. Robert was the father of five sons, David, Robert,
Randy, Billy and Gary who passed away in 1972, and one and only
daughter, Sissy Hazel and including Cathy, Linda and Tom.
Robert was preceded in death by his father and mother, Edward and
Margaret Eaton; four brothers; five sisters; several nieces; nephews
and loved ones.
Robert is survived by his wife, Georgie, of the home; his four sons,
David and Robert, Lowry City, Billy, of the home and Randy,
Springfield; and one daughter, Hazel, Osceola.
Robert had many grandchildren and great grandchildren, lots of nieces
and nephews and many, many friends whom he loved all very much. He is
also survived by his brother, Joe, El Dorado Springs, brother,
Raymond, Nixa; sister, Mary Margaret Carson, El Dorado Springs,
sister, Betty Finley, Peculiar and sister, Kathryn Mickey,
Independence.
Robert was a retired brick mason.
Services for Robert were Tuesday, April 11, at the Sheldon-Goodrich
Chapel with Pastor Sam Masten and Reverend Harvey Woods officiating.
Musical selections were "Daddy's Hands", "Winner Either Way", "One
Savior" with Roger Powell and Nona Hahn, vocalist singing "Grandpa".
Casketbearers were David Eaton, Jr., Kevin Pipes, Randy Eaton, Jerry
Eaton, Clint Pipes and Gary Eaton. Honorary casketbearers were Matthew
Williams and Tommy Williams.
Interment was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery, Rockville, under the direction
of Sheldon-Goodrich Funeral Home.

Mrs. Ruth Ann Eaton, 81, of 9416 E.15th, died Friday, May 1, 1981 at
her home. She was born in Warsaw and had lived in this area most of
her life. Mrs Eaton was a member of the Englewood Assembly of God
Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Sanford in
1944 and her parents, William Rupe Anglin Sr and Martha Elizabeth
"Loyd" Anglin, and three brothers and three sisters.
Her survivors include five sons, George Eaton, Carthage, John Eaton,
Kansas City, Jack Eaton, Independence, Bill Eaton, Carthage, and
Alonzo Eaton, Kansas City, Kansas; two daughters, Myrl Mann, Kansas
City, and Louise Riley, McDonald, Kansas; a sister, Martha Lester,
Marshall, MO.; 26 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
Service were today [May 4, 1981] at the Liberty Baptist Church,
Iconium; burial in Iconium Cemetery.

Trisha Eckard Eaton, 33, El Dorado Springs, passed away on Monday,
Aug. 17, due to a motor vehicle accident.
Trisha is survived by her husband, Jerry Eaton, of the home; three
children – Sidney Bayless, Jason Leroy Thomas and Colton Eaton; her
parents, Zande Eckard, and wife, Linda – El Dorado Springs, and Karen
Smith – El Dorado Springs; one sister, Stephanie VanReenan – El Dorado
Springs; and many other relatives and friends.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 21, in Bland-Hackleman
Chapel with burial in Osceola Cemetery under direction of
Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 10
a.m. on Friday morning until service time.

WILLIAM MARTIN EATON, SR. -
William Martin Eaton, Sr. went to be with the Lord on May 9, 2003, in
Joplin, MO., He was born May 31, 1934 in Iconium, MO., to the late
Jesse Sanford Eaton and Ruth Ann (Anglin) Eaton.
On October 7, 1955, he married the love of his life, Katherine J.
McLaughlin in Independence, MO., and was married for 48 years. They
lived in many places during their marriage --- Independence, Kansas
City, Carthage, Springfield and Pittsburg, MO. and finally in Joplin,
MO.
He was a member of the International Bakery Union # 218 for over 45
years.
Bill and Kathy owned and operated the Webb City Bakery in Webb City,
MO., from 1977 to 1985. He worked for Consumers Bakery in Springfield
as manager from 1985 until they closed in 1991.
Due to his health he retired to Pomme de Terre Lake in 1992, moving to
Joplin, Missouri in 2002.
Bill's many hobbies included fishing and reading, but most of all he
was an avid baseball and boxing fan.
He was a member of the Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers; John
Franklin, George Henry, Jessie Alonzo and one sister, Lavonia Louise.
Survivors include his wife, Katherine J. Eaton, and their two sons;
David Eugene Eaton of Oak Grove, MO., and William Martin Eaton, II of
Joplin; one daughter, Kathy (Cissy) Eaton of Greenwood, MO.; five
grandchildren, Teresa Stewart and husband, Mike, David C. Eaton and
wife, Charity of Oak Grove, MO., Marc Hill and wife, Carrie of Lee's
Summit, MO., Cody and Shelby Eaton of Joplin, MO.; three
great-grandchildren, Quentin William Hill, Addie Eaton and one little
boy on the way; one sister Myrl Mann of Kansas City, MO.; and one
brother, Jack Eaton of Holden, MO.
He was a devoted husband and father. Our daddy was loving and truly a
one of a kind man. We could not have asked for a better father. Our
love for Daddy will continue to grow and will be forever in our
hearts. He will be missed by many special friends and family.
Graveside services will be held on Monday at 2:00 p.m. at the Iconium
Cemetery in Iconium, MO., with the Rev. Larry Six officiating.
Pallbearers will be David E. Eaton, Bill Eaton II, David C. Eaton, and
Mike Stewart.
Arrangements are with the Thornhill-Dillon Funeral Home in Joplin, MO.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Iconium
Cemetery in care of Jim Murray, 5771 NE Highway U, Osceola, MO., 65776.
EBLEN, Rachel White

Mrs. Rachel Eblen died at her home in this city about 2:00 last Friday
morning. She was the mother of Mrs. James H. Reading, Mrs. E. Ream and
Mrs. Cynthia White. Mrs. Eblen had resided here a great many years and
was highly respected by all who knew her. For the past 5 years, she
had been a helpless invalid caused by a fall and bore her affliction
with great patience. Mrs. Eblen had reached the advanced age of 92
years 4 months and 2 days. Funeral services were held at the M. E.
Church Saturday at 2:00 p.m. The sermon being·delivered by Rev.
Simmons. Internment was made at the Lowry City Cemetery. Her husband
Jesse Eblen preceeded her in death 27 years ago. She was born near
Greenville, OH January 28, 1823, was married to Jesse Eblin in 1840 &
departed this life May 30, 1913, age 92 years, 4 months, and 2 days.
Burial in Lowry City Cemetery (Barnett Cemetery.)
ECKHOFF, Donna Lorene Stark
Donna Lorene Stark Eckhoff was born Feb. 9, 1919, in Sedalia to
Omer Milton and Mary Ann Binder Durrill. She passed away Sept. 11,
2006, at Beautiful Savior Care Center, Belton.
Donna worked for many years at the hospital in Warrensburg, as a
dietician and later worked many years as an inspector for Harmon
Industries at Warrensburg until she retired. She was a member of the
Lutheran Church in Sweet Springs. Donna enjoyed traveling with her
late husband, Elmer, working in her garden and flower beds.
Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer, her parents, and
one sister, Gretta Woodward.
She is survived by her son, Omer Bud Stark, Sweet Springs; daughter,
Wanda Bucklinger, Kansas City; grandson, Michael Young, Raytown and
other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were Wednesday, Sept. 13, at the Sheldon-Goodrich
Chapel, officiated by Geg Mangum.
Music selection was, "How Great Thou Art".
Interment was in Robinson Cemetery. Arrangements were under the
direction of Sheldon-Goodrich Funeral Home, Osceola.
EDLAND, Althea Toler

Althea Toler Edland was born in St. Clair County, Missouri on November
7, 1906. She passed away in St. Joseph hospital, Wichita, Kans.,
February 15, 1963.
She spent most of her married life in Pueblo, Colo., but had been a
resident of Wichita, the past three years.
She was a member of the First Christian church of Pueblo, and was past
president of the Beaucement Auxiliary of Knights of Templar, in
Pueblo.
Survivors include her husband, Edwin P. Edlund of the home; two
sisters, Mrs. E.C. Morris of Wichita, Kans., Mrs. Orville Hill of
Roscoe, Mo.; one brother, R. Lynn Toler, Cupertino, Calif., and one
niece, Mrs. Joe L. Roland, Wichita, Kans.; other relatives and many
friends.
Her patience and courage in meeting the many trials of her life is
known by all who loved her.
EDMUNDS, Brady Carl

Brady Carl Edmunds, 38, Lowry City, was born December 4, 1967, to
Billy Carl and Shirley Jean (Perry) Edmunds, and died December 18,
2005, at his home. Brady worked hard, loved his kids and endured lots
of sorrow in his all too short life. He was a truck driver for many
years. Brady was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather John
Perry and his paternal grandmother Gladys Dowell. Brady is survived by
his three
children, Katy 17, Cord 15, and Carlie 10, all of the home; his
parents, Billy and Shirley; two brothers, Lance and John; his sister
Melody; half-sister Kelly; numerous cousins and wife April. Funeral
services were Wednesday, December 21, at Sheldon-Goodrich Chapel.
Burial was in Kidd's Chapel Cemetery, Lowry City.
EDMUNDS, Tanner Lane

Tanner Lane Edmunds, infant son of Lance Edward Edmunds and Sarah
Renae Hudson, was born June 3, 2006, at Overland Park Regional
Hospital, Overland Park, Kansas, and died six hours later at the
hospital. Tanner is also survived by his maternal grandmother Diane
Holt, Deepwater, and his paternal grandparents Billy and Shirley
Edmunds of Lowry City. Funeral services were held at Vansant-Mills
Chapel on Wednesday, June 7, with burial in Kidds Chapel Cemetery,
Lowry City.
EDWARDS, Jessie Lavinia Toby Jenkins

Jessie Lavinia (Toby) Jenkins Edwards died at the Sac-Osage Hospital
in Osceola, Missouri February 17, 1989.
She was born December 9, 1904, at the farm home of Ggeorgia and Andrew
Jenkins near Bates City, Mo.
Mrs. Edwards attended Bledsoe County School until eleven years of age.
She attended Bryant School in Independence, Mo. one year, then Junior
High School and graduated from Wm. Chrisman High School in
Independence in 1922.
She attended Warensburg State College and Missouri University.
January 1, 1925 she maried Rider C. Edwards. Both taught school in
Deepwater, Urich and Osceola.
Mr. and Mrs. Edwards purchased the "St. Clair County Republican" in
1932 and served as co-editors and publishers.
Mrs. Edwards served as Secretary of the St. Clair County Republican
Committee, the Sixth District Republican Committee, and the Republican
Editorial Association.
Along with her various responsibilities involving the newspaper, Mrs.
Edwards also taught dancing in Clinton and Osceola in the 1930's.
In the 1940's, the Edwards organized "The Edwards Press" and
"Hillbilly Printers".
In 1943, Mrs. Edwards was appointed Superintendent of Schools for St.
Clair County, Missouri.
Mrs. Edwards also became the first woman in Missouri to serve on a
jury under the provision of the new State Constitution when she took
her place in the jury box of the St. Clair County Circuit Court. She
was made foreman of the jury by her fellow jurors.She was proceded in death by her husband, Rider C. Edwards, on April
20, 1970.
Rider and Toby incorporated "The Edwards Press" in February of 1970.
Surviving family members include a niece, Mamie Alice Edwards Warnick
and her husband, Charles P. Warnick of Arizona, their three children,
Ward, Tracy and Sean Warnick, and several cousins.
Funeral services were February 20, 1989 in the Sheldon-Goodrich
Chapel, Osceola, with the Rev. Jack Kiefer and the Rrev. Dan Dellinger
officiating. Soloist was Jim Sunderwirth with Gail Ingle, accompanist.
Casketbearers were: Coy Fleetwood, Walter Hollowell, Lewis L. Motley,
Marvin Zeiler, Robert Smith, William Schatz.
EDWARDS, Rider Clark

Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at Osceola for Rider C.
Edwards, a prominent Osceola businessman who died at Sac Osage
Hospital Monday. He had been in failing health for more than a year.
Together with his wife, Toby, he had developed a school and church
supply business that served a wide area of the midwest. It is known as
The Edwards Press.
Mr. Edwards was a former teacher, school superintendent and newspaper
owner.
The services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Goodrich Funeral Home.
Burial will be in the Sunset Hills Cemetery in Warrrensburg. Rev. Jack
Kiefer will officiate and music will be provided by Mrs. Beryl Kiefer
and Mr. and Mrs. Ray D. Kiefer.
Pallbearers will be John Martin, Herbert Brooks, Walter Hollowell, Coy
Fleetwood, Lewis Motley and Paul Riley.
Mr. Edwards was born in Liberty and attended high school there. He was
a student two years at William Jewell College and received his
bachelor's degree at Central Missouri State College, Warrensburg. He
attended the University of Chicago and the University of
Missouri-Columbia where he received his master's degree.
On graduation he became a high school teacher and athletic coach in
Deepwater, Missouri. In 1926 he became school superintendent at Urich,
Mo, and in 1928 superintendent of schools of Osceola schools, holding
the post several years.
In 1933, Mr. Edwards bought the St. Clair County Republican newspaper
which later merged with the St. Clair County Democrat to form the St.
Clair County Courier.
Mr. Edwards founded the school supply company in 1942 and was active
in the business until his death.
He was a member of the Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Toby Edwards of the home and a niece, Mrs.
Charles P. Warnick of Fairfield, Washington.
ELDER, James I.

James I. Elder - February 26, 1928 - January 9, 2009.
James Irven Elder, son of Lee G. and Orpha M. Elder, was born in Troy,
Kansas February 26, 1928. He departed this life January 9, 2009 at
Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton, Missouri at the age of 80.
Jim spent eight years of his life serving his country in the United
States Army and Navy. After his time in the armed forces, Jim worked
at Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas. On January 28, 1956 he was
united in marriage to Patty Jo Gregg. To this union two children were
born, Tricia Lee and Tamberla Faye. Jim was baptized at an early age
in the Christian Church in Troy, Kansas and again in the United
Methodist Church with his family. Jim had his own plumbing and
electric business until he worked and retired from Peabody Coal as a
master electrician. Jim and his wife Patty owned and operated Elder RV
in Montrose, Missouri for over 26 years. He was a member of the Ararat
Shriners, the Freemasons and the Grand Lodge. Jim was a devoted
husband and loving father and grandfather. Jim was preceded in death
by his parents Lee and Orpha Elder; three brothers, Max, Rex and Bobby
Elder; six sisters, Ruth MaCaslin, Anna Lee Stadler, Raymona Baker,
Hazel Parks, Laura Sterndorf and Emma Elder. He is survived by his
wife Patty of Appleton City; two daughters, Tricia Lee Evans and
husband Mark of Lee’s Summit, Missouri and Tamberla Faye Cook and
husband Jeffrey of Appleton City, Missouri; three grandchildren, Tyler
Evans and wife Katie of Lee’s Summit, Missouri and Brittany and
Cassidy Cook of Appleton City, Missouri; one brother Raymond Elder of
Olathe, Kansas; one sister Beverly Bianchi of Omaha, Nebraska; and
many loved nieces and nephews.

ELDRIDGE, Dwayne Logan

D'Wayne L. Eldridge, Springfield, Mo., died June 2, 2007.
D'Wayne was born April 19, 1932, in Osceola, Mo. He married his high
school sweetheart, Venita Harris, on October 22, 1950. D'Wayne
moved his young family to Springfield, Mo. in 1959, where he worked
for Burroughs Corporation as a banking machine technician for 36
years.
From an early age he was gifted at repairing mechanical equipment. At
the age of fourteen he made a lawn mower, one of the first in Osceola,
by adding various parts to a gasoline washing machine motor. For years
he restored Studebakers and was active in the Ozark Trails Studebaker
Club.
He became a follower of Jesus shortly after he and Venita were
married. He taught Sunday School for more than 50 years, the last 25
years with the Harmony Class at Second Baptist Church, Springfield. He
loved God's Word and was an excellent Bible study teacher. He served
his church in many volunteer capacities,
including deacon, usher, and video camera operator. He helped fix and
maintain equipment around the church,
and he was a strong supporter of mission programs.
He was known throughout the community for his servant spirit, doing
house repairs and odd jobs for widows
and many others. Always putting others before himself, D'Wayne was the
consummate servant leader. D'Wayne is preceded in death by a son,
D'Wayne Logan Eldridge, Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Venita; his son, Daryl
Eldridge and wife, Carole, Springfield, Mo.; daughter, Marla Kundey
and husband, Gary, Columbus, Ga.; and two grandchildren, Melinda Davis
and husband, Matthew, Houston, Texas, Mark Eldridge and fiance, Leigha
Caldwell, Arlington, Texas.
He is also survived by a brother, Stanley Eldridge and wife, Peggy,
Osceola, Mo.; a sister, JoAnne Mick, Springfield, Mo.; three
half-sisters, Cordelia Bates, Oklahoma City, Okla., Doris Hammerson
Stockton, Calif., and Mary Beth Greathouse and husband, J.V., Osceola,
Mo.; and many other extended family members.
The memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 5, in
Second Baptist Church in Springfield, Mo., with the Rev. John M. Edie
officiating. Graveside services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday,
June 5, in the Osceola Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be

Charlene Blanche Ellifrits was born July 24, 1933 in Brownington, Mo.,
the first child of Charley Guy and Eva Blanche (Chiles) Nichols and
gently passed from this world on Wednesday, June 6, 2007.
Charlene graduated from Deepwater High School. She loved to read and
visit with family, and she would make each birthday a celebration of
joy. She enjoyed listening to blue grass and gospel music and she was
a member of the Brownington Baptist Church. For years, Charlene
faithfully made the rolls for the Plantation restaurant. Charlene and
Harold loved to travel. Charlene was a resident of Truman Lake Manor,
recently moving to Lowry City to be near her loved ones.
Charlene was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Harold
Ellifrits, her parents, Chrles Guy and Eva Blanche Nichols, one
daughter-in-law, Lucille Blanche Witherspoon Hehner, two
grandchildren, Kevin Michael and Angie Renee Hehner, and one nephew,
Chad Nichols.
Charlene is survived by her three sons, Edward Hehner of Iberia, Mo.,
Ricky Hehner of LaDue, Mo., and Mark Hehner and wife Sandy of Lowry
City, Mo., two brothers, William (Bill) Nichols and wife Jackie and
Jerry Nichols and wife Sis, one sister, Sharon Brown, all of Lowry
City, Mo. Six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, numerous nieces,
nephews, other relatives and friends.

Dick H. Elliott, 70, Gladstone, a retired law enforcement officer,
died Wednesday, January 15, in North Kansas City Hospital. Dick Harry
Elliott was born to Harry Samuel and Edith Rebecca Elliott, on
February 26, 1932, and died January 15, 2003.
He was preceded in death by his father, his mother, his half-sister,
Roberta Fern Francis, and his first wife, Jannie Lou Roberts.
He is survived by his wife, Margie; two daughters from his marriage
with Jannie, Connie Arlene Castanada and Edith Elaine Wilson, and
stepdaughters, Leilani Suellentrop and Kayla Keiss; grandchildren,
Elana Antonia Castanada, Jannie May Castanada, Alicia Rosa Castanada,
Ruschell Arlene Dryden, step-grandchildren, Andrew Suellentrop,
Jonathan Suellentrop, Elizabeth Suellentrop, Gregory Suellentrop,
Autumn Keiss, Shelle Castanada, Ryan Wilson, Brady Wilson, and
great-grandchildren, Keaton Myles Dryden; step-great-grandchild,
Claudia Wilson.
Funeral services were held January 19 at Sheldon-Goodrich Funeral Home
in Osceola. Burial was in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
ELLIOTT, Edith Rebecca Killingsworth
Funeral services were held in Goodrich Chapel, Wednesday afternoon at
2:00 p.m., January 12, 1972 for Edith Rebecca Elliott, who died at the
Sac Osage Hospital in Osceola, Missouri, January 10, 1972, at the age
of 74 years, nine months and 12 days. Rev. Donald Carroll, pastor of
the Osceola Church of The Brethren, officiated at the services and
burial was made in the Oak Grove Cemetery, West of Collins, Missouri.
Marian McCaslin, accompanist, Bob McCaslin sang "How Great Thou Art",
"Beyond the sunset". Pallbearers were; Lester Peterie, John Ozbun,
Paul Gardner, Jim Bishop, Fred Baker, Fred Elliott. Mrs. Elliott,
daughter of the Rev. Abel and Anna (Yost) Killingsworth, was born
South of Rainey, Missouri, March 15, 1897. At the age of 17 years she
united with the Oak Grove Church of The Brethren. On November 16,
1929, she married Harry Samuel Elliott. She is survived by one son,
Dick Harry Elliott, and one daughter, Roberta Fern (Killingsworth)
Francis.
ELLIOTT, Elsie Belle Smith
Elsie Belle Elliott was born March 28, 1908 near Osceola, MO, the
Smith Bend area, to John I. and Ida Gilbert Smith. She passed away
June 8, 1994 at the Sac-Osage Hospital in Osceola, MO.
Elsie was a lifelong Osceola area resident. She was baptized in the
Osage River and was a member of the Church Of God (Holiness). She was
preceded in death by her parents, and 3 children.
Elsie is survived by six sons, Donald Richard Lego, George Lego,
Jimmie Lee Elliott, Robert Elliott, Ronald D. Elliott and Jay
McMillin, Two Daughters; Mrs. Marie AnnaBelle Crowder, and Mrs. Mary
Madeira, one brother; Roy Smith, three Sisters; Bessie Evans, Lydia Smith, and Hannah Beckner, 15 Grandchildren, 8 Great-Grandchildren,
other relatives and many friends.
Services were held Friday, June 10, 1994 , at 2 p.m. at the
Sheldon-Goodrich Chapel. The minister was Reverend John Madeira, with
music by Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Hartley. Casketbearers were Bruce Elliott,
Brian Elliott, Timothy Elliott, Tyler Elliott, Jim Elliott, and George
Lego. Burial at Smith Bend Cemetery.
ELLIOTT, Fred Alexander

Fred A. Elliott was born August 17, 1907, near Collins to Scott E. and
Fannie Margaret (Lytton) Elliott. He
passed away July 18, 1995, at the Sac-Osage Hospital in Osceola,
Missouri.
Fred grew up in St. Clair County. On October 5, 1932, he was united in
married to Minnie Elizabeth Keller.
This began a 59 year faithful and loving marriage. They moved to a
farm near Vista, Missouri, where they
lived until moving into Osceola, Missouri, in 1978. This union was
blessed with three children, all of
whom survive.
Fred was a farmer all his life. He lived from the land and he held the
land in great respect. He took care in
leaving the earth he borrowed for a while in good condition. He loved
to hunt in earlier years. Fred
maintained an honesty that is rarely seen in our troubled world. His
word was his bond. A lock would be
of no value in this world if everyone followed Fred's example. He
respected his neighbors. He served his God
and his community well. He worked on election boards and school
boards.
Fred loved young people and always helped and encouraged them in
school and church, he loved his
children, grandchildren and his family and they returned that love.
Fred saw many changes in the
world; some good, and some bad, but he knew that someday he would see
the greatest change of all, the transformation to a new life, and that
he would see God. Fred will be greatly missed by all of us.
Fred was preceded in death by his wife, Minnie, on May 28, 1992, his
parents, and eight brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his children, Roy Francis, Helen Lois, and Jean
Carol; Sons-in-law, Jack Martin Shelby,
and John Wesley Hail; daughter-in-law, Gladys Lorene Elliott;

ELLIOTT, Harry Samuel
Funeral services were held in the Goodrich Chapel, Monday afternoon at
2:00 p.m., August 26, 1963 for Harry Samuel Elliott, who died at his
home in Osceola, Missouri, August 23, 1963 at the age of 65 years, six
months and 12 days. Rev. Earl Traughber, pastor of the Osceola Church
Of The Brethren, officiated at the service and burial was made in the
Oak Grove Cemetery, Collins, Missouri. Roxie Martin, pianist, Mrs.
Gerald Winters, Wilma Hannah, Margaret Luckey sang "Over There",
"Beyond The Sunset", and "Going Down The Valley". Pallbearers were
Waldo Jones, Lester Peterie, R.C. Ellis, Clark Foster, Harold Burr and
John Ozbun. Mr. Elliott, son of Joseph Henry Elliott and Lidda Jane
(Burkhart) Elliott, was born at Vista, Missouri, February 11, 1898. On
November 16, 1929, he was married to Edith Rebecca Killingsworth. One
son, Dick Harry Elliott, was born to the couple. Mr. Elliott was
member of the Oak Grove Church Of The Brethren, West of Collins,
Missouri, and was a active member until his health failed. The
Elliott's lived on a farm in the Rainey community until July 19, 1960,
at which time they moved to Osceola, Missouri, to make their home.

Our Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Minnie Elizabeth
Keller Elliott, was born January 15,
1910, to John Keller near Rainey and departed this life on Thursday,
May 28, 1992, in Springfield,
Missouri.
She was united in marriage to Fred Alexander Elliott on October 5,
1932, at Roscoe, Missouri. She remained
his faithful and loving wife for 59 years. They moved to a farm near
Vista where they earned a living until
they moved to Osceola, Missouri, in 1978. To their union was born Roy
Francis Elliott, Helen Lois Hail of
Yukon, Oklahoma, and Jean Carol Shelby of Osceola, Missouri.
She is survived by her husband, Fred of the home; children, Roy,
Helen, and Carol; sons-in-law Jack Martin Shelby and John Hail;
daughter-in-law Gladys Lorene Elliott; grandchildren, Rory Jay Shelby,
Martin Clell Shelby, Garrett Lee Elliott, Linda Ladona Basore,
Kimberly Ann Nelson, Vicki Bogart, Denise Looney, and Gary Hail;
great-grandchildren, Andra and Andrew Shelby, Travis Lee Elliott,
Melissa and Minday Short, Tyson and Travis Basore, Brian, Brett and
Brooke Bogart, Deanna, Danielle, and D. J. Looney, and John,
Stephanie, Amanda and Sean Hail; and a host of relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Albin,
Bailey and Casper Keller and Eula Clyde. Minnie had a great zest for
living. Her friends and neighbors will miss seeing her working at her
favorite hobby in her garden and flowers. Minnie especially loved her
Lord and her church. She was a member of the Vista Baptist Church,
serving faithfully for over 50 years.
Minnie knew she would face this day and she prepared for it with a
profession of faith in her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. She will be
missed by those she loved and who loved her.
The family wishes to share with you a tribute: The loving kindness you
have shared so happily and so often through the years is a beautiful
reminder of God's love and a touching example of his love at work in
our family. Than you, Mom, for being such a very special blessing.
Services were held Sunday, May 31, at 2 p.m. at Sheldon-Goodrich
Chapel in Osceola with Rev. Clarence Hyde officiating. Vocalist David
Kline was accompanied by Mary Lu Hildebrand.
Casketbearers were Garrett Elliott, Martin Shelby, Rory Shelby, Jack
Shelby, Roy Elliott, and John Hail.
Burial was in Osceola Cemetery under the direction of Sheldon-Goodrich
Funeral Home, Osceola, Missouri.

C. W. Ellis, 88, Appleton City, died Wednesday, July 16, 2003 at
Appleton City Manor Nursing Home. He is survived by his wife, Helen
Ellis, of the home; one son, Dean Ellis, Springfield; one daughter,
Susan Rotert, Appleton City; one brother, Wade Ellis, Corona Del Mar,
California, and one sister, Louanna Robinson, Wilson, Kansas. Funeral
services will be Saturday, July 19, at Hill & Son Funeral Home,
Appleton City, with burial in the Appleton City Cemetery.
ELLIS, George Frederick
George Frederick Ellis, the son of Clyde and Lotta (Piepmeier)
Ellis was born on July 11, 1912 in Bates County, Missouri. Mr. Ellis
passed away at University Hospital on February 2, 2003 in Columbia,
Missouri at the age of 90 years. George lived nearly all of his life
in the Appleton City, Missouri area where he farmed to provide for his
family. He owned and operated the school buses from 1936 through 1940,
which was the first time that school buses were used in the school
system. He owned Ellis Plumbing and Heating from 1950 to 1970. George
was a member of the International Order of Odd Fellows Lodge, First
Christian Church and a lifetime member of Montrose VFW Post 8820. Mr.
Ellis served his country in the Army during World War II where he
served in the 982 Engineers Maintenance Company where he was attached
to General Patton’s Army. He was united in marriage to Zelpha N. Hyde
on October 2, 1936 in Sedalia, Missouri, and they celebrated their
50th wedding anniversary on October 2, 1986. To this union one
daughter was born. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is
survived by his wife Zelpha of the home; daughter Linda and husband
Mike Gilbert of Columbia, Missouri; granddaughter Kimberly and husband
Matthew Roney of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; grandson Kristopher Gilbert
of Columbia, Missouri; great-grandson Quintin Roney; two brothers,
C.W. and Helen Ellis of Appleton City, Missouri and Wade and Elsie
Ellis of Corona del Mar, California; one sister Louanna and husband
Marlin Robinson of Wilson, Kansas; several nieces, nephews and
friends.
ELLIS, Zelpha Nadine Hyde
Zelpha Nadine Ellis, daughter of Irvine Ronald Hyde and Della
Caroline Malone, died October 3, 2004 at Appleton City Manor. She was
born January 14, 1914 in Windsor, Missouri and passed away at the age
of 90 years, 8 months and 20 days. Zelpha moved to Appleton City in
1916 and lived nearly all her life on a farm east of Appleton. Zelpha
attended Appleton City schools and graduated valedictorian for
Appleton City High School in 1932. After high school she worked at
Schlichtman Hatchery and Doc Martin’s Drug Store in addition to taking
care of her mother after she became ill. Zelpha left Appleton City to
follow her husband, George, while he was serving in World War II and
worked on various Army bases including El Paso, Texas, Biloxi,
Mississippi and Los Angeles, California. When George was stationed
overseas, Zelpha lived in Lee’s Summit, Missouri with Ray and Carolina
Dunning and worked the graveyard shift at Ft. Pratt Whitney Defense
Plant. Mrs. Ellis was a member o the First Christian Church, accepting
Christ at an early age and rededicating her life by baptism at a later
age. Zelpha was a past member of Rebecca Lodge and the American Legion
Auxiliary. When her daughter, Linda, was is school Zelpha was a member
of PTA and supporter of Rainbow for Girls Organization. Zelpha and
George spent many years as “snowbirds” in Casa Grande, Arizona and she
was always very involved with her grandchildren’s lives. She enjoyed
playing cards, working crossword puzzles and going out for breakfast.
She was united in marriage to George F. Ellis on October 2, 1936 and
he preceded her in death on February 2, 2003. They were married 66
years and to this union one daughter was born. She was preceded in
death by her parents and one brother, Wellington “Doc” Hyde, and one
brother-in-law, C.W. Ellis. Surviving is her daughter Linda and
husband Mike of Columbia, Missouri; granddaughter Kimberly and husband
Matt Roney Grain Valley, Missouri; grandson, Kristopher Gilbert,
Owatonna, Minnesota; great-grandson, Quintin Roney, Grain Valley,
Missouri; and a sister, Pauline Galt, of Santa Fe, New Mexico. Also
surviving are: sisters-in-law, Helen Ellis, Appleton City, and Louanna
and husband Marlin Robinson, Wilson, Kansas; brother-in-law and wife,
Wade and Elsie Ellis, Corona Del Mar, California; nieces, nephews and
other relatives and friends.
ELTON, Opal Frances Rhoads

Opal Frances Rhoads Elton was born February 14, 1914, to Hardaman and
Gladys Holmes Rhoads in the Deepwater area and passed away October 12,
2005, at Truman Lake Manor nursing home, Lowry City.
Opal attended school in the Deepwater rural area through the eighth
grade and then she stayed home to help out and care for her brothers
and her sisters. She was a member of the Golden Gate Baptist Church in
Deepwater.
Opal was united in marriage to W.R. Reg Elton on October 26, 1936, and
they made their home in the Osceola area. To this union one son, Bill
J. Elton was born.
Opal worked at Edwards Press and Osceola Greenhouse but mainly was a
homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, W.R. of 63 years and a son,
Bill. Opal is survived by her daughter-in-law, Alma Elton Rodabaugh,
Osceola, and one granddaughter, Billie Jo Elton Mooney, and her
husband Brian, of Welch, Okla., other relatives and friends.
Services were held Friday, October 14, at 11 a.m. at Sheldon-Goodrich
Chapel. The minister was Rev. Francis Leslie.
The music was “Amazing Grace”, “In the Sweet By and By”, with Richard
Sunderwirth, vocalist and Mary Lu Hildebrand, accompanist.
The casket bearers were Joe Hubbard, Wilbur Slocum, Basil Hildebrand,
Tom Rodabaugh, Brett Shelby and Brian Mooney.
Interment was a King’s Prairie Cemetery. Arrangements were by Sheldon
Goodrich funeral home.
