Graveside services were held at Kidd's Chapel Cemetery on Sunday, June 12, at 2:00 pm for Cora M. Inskeep, with Rev. Bob Fenwick officiating. Music was provided by J.A. Hartley, soloist. Casket bearers were Perry Davis, Lesley parsons, Elza Ridgeway, Ed Schierick, Charles Schierick, and Elmore Shepard. Mrs. Cora Inskeep, 86, of Appleton City passed away Thursday afternoon, June 9, 1983 at Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton. She was born Jan 19, 1897 to Jacob and Frances Martin Chiles. She was a longtime St. Clair County area resident. She was a member of Florence United Methodist Church, Florence, KS.
She is survived by one son, Lecil, of Appleton City; one sister Virgie Rice of Des Moines, Iowa; one brother, Ed Chiles of Fonda, Iowa; three grandchildren, Jack Inskeep of Appleton City, Kathy Johnson of Nevada, Mo., and Becky Drake of Shawnee, Okla.; three great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Interment was in the Kidd's Chapel Cemetery under direction of the Goodrich Funeral Home of Osceola.

Howard Inskeep dies July 31 - Funeral services were held Sunday Aug 3, at Goodrich funeral Home for Howard Edward Inskeep. 69, route one, Appleton City, who died July 31, at Sae-Osage Hospital, Osceola, following a heart attack. Rev. Admiral Phillips officiated at the service and burial was made in Kidds Chapel cemetery. Linda Walte accompanied the soloist, Basil Wharry. Pallbearers were, Archie Carroll, Flavil Dines, Harry Davis, Dick Woody, Woodrow Harris and F.O. Ryan. Mr. Inskeep, son of Edward and Catherine Inskeep, was born Oct. 8, 1899. He grew to manhood in St. Clair county and were a farmer and stockman all his life. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge for almost 40 years. He was converted in a meeting at Chalk Level early in life. His marriage to Cora Chiles occurred Dec. 19, 1923 Survivors are his wife, Cora; one son, Lecil, daughter in law Lois; three grandchildren, Becky, Jackie and Cathy; one brother William Inskeep Osceola; four sisters, Edith Creed, Klamath Falls, Ore., Hallie Chiles, Osceola, Esther Jones, Adrian and Nina Ginter, Butler.

Jackie H. Inskeep passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2005, at his home. He was born Jan. 22, 1955, in Clinton, to Aloise and Lecil Inskeep. He was baptized at the small Methodist Church in El Dorado Springs. He graduated from El Dorado Springs High School. He worked for the telephone company as a backhoe operator and on the bride across Osage River at Taberville. Later he came back to the farm after a serious accident. He was married to Lana Brooner and they had one daughter, Darce Inskeep, Branson. He was preceded in death by his father, Lecil and both set of grandparents. He is survived by his mother, Aloise, Appleton City; his daughter, Darce, Branson; two sisters, Cathy Beasley, Clinton and becky Drake, Appleton City; one uncle, Rodger Teller, California; five nephews; one niece; one great niece; one great nephew and a host of friends. He will be missed by all who knew him. Services for Jackie were Saturday, May 21, at the Sheldon-Goodrich chapel with Reverend Sam Masten officiating. Music was by Danny Greathouse and MaryNell Greathouse. Casketbearers were Darrel Greathouse, Jason Greathouse, Larry Fast, Timmy Greathouse, Tracy Thames and John Greathouse. Interment was in the Kidd’s Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Sheldon-Goodrich Funeral Home, Osceola.

Robert Edward Inskeep, born of Richard and Margaret Inskeep, in Champagne County IL, Feb. 19, 1873, died Nov 2, 1948, at the Wetzel Hospital at Clinton, at the age of 75 years, eight months and 14 days. He was the youngest of his family and the last to die. his illness was of short duration and he had often expressed the wish that it would be so. He moved with his parents form Illinois to Iowa at the age of three where he lived until he was 13. then they moved again by covered wagon to Ohio, Mo, where he spent the rest of his life. Oct 12, 1898, he was married to Sarah Catherine Howard, who preceded him in death Oct. 24, 1943. to this union ten children were born. Two sons, Floyd and Delmar, and one daughter Illa, died in infancy. He was converted in early manhood and later with his family, joined the United Brethren Church at Kidd's Chapel. Reading was his hobby, but his chief delight was in visiting with old friends and neighbors and his good charms and wit will long be remembered. He leaves to mourn his death, his children, Howard E. Inskeep, Appleton City, MO; Mrs. Edith Creed, Klamath Falls, Ore; Mrs. Hollie Chiles, Osceola, MO; Esther Jones, Adrian; William B. Inskeep and Richard L. Inskeep of the home; Mrs. Nina Ginter, Lowry City . He also leaves 11 grandchild, eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services under the directions of the Goodrich Funeral Home were held in the Kidd's Chapel Church, Sunday, afternoon with Rev. F. Wilson officiating. Burial was in the nearby cemetery.

INSKEEP, Sarah Catherine Howard

Sarah Catherine Howard, daughter of Wm H. and Catherine H. Howard, was born Feb. 27, 1876, and departed this life, Oct. 24, 1943 at the age of 67 years 7 months and 27 days. Although frail in health for several years, her suffering at the time of her death was only a few hours. She came with her parents by covered wagon from Greene County, Indiana when she was six years old, to St. Clair county where she has spent the remainder of her life. She was converted at the age of 16 years and became a member of the Methodist church of Kidd's Chapel. Later in life with her husband and children, she changed here membership to the Untied Brethren church at the same place. On Oct 12, 1898 she was united in marriage to Robert Edward Inskeep and to that union ten children were born. Three of them preceded her in death in early childhood. There left to mourn her departure her faithful companion are Howard E. Inskeep of Appleton City, Mrs. Edith Creed of Klamath Falls Ore., Mrs. Hallie Chiles of Oakland Calif., Mrs. Esther Jones of Adrian, William B. Inskeep at home, PFC Richard L. Inskeep of the Untied States Army, overseas, and Mrs. Nina Ginter of Osceola also five granddaughters and six grandsons, one of Home is FFC Kenneth Chiles, of the United States Navy, and three great grand son, also elderly sisters, Mrs. Emily L. Williams of Osceola and Mrs. Mary M. Dark of Osceola, and a host of nieces and nephews, neighbors and friends. She had a pleasant sunny dispersion, and her every thought was for her home and family. She was a lover of flowers and spent her spare moments tending them. She was good wife and mother, and will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Blessed are they who die in the Lord, yea saith the spirit. They shall rest from their labors and their works shall follow them. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at Kidd's Chapel with the Rev. Gay Shoemaker officiating and burial was made at the same place, under the direction of the Osceola funeral Home.

IRVIN, Jewell D. Garnett

Jewell D. Irvin was born September 18, 1913, in Chalk Level, Mo., to W. Ira and  Eunice Wall Garnett. She died March 14, 1997, at the Sac Osage Hospital in  Osceola. Jewell attended Chalk Level School and then attended high school in  Lowry City. On October 30, 1930, she was united in marriage to Wilbur G. Irvin,  their married life was spent in Lowry City area. She was a member of the Church  of Christ in Clinton. Jewell loved gardening, flowers and cats. Jewell was  preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur, on February 28, 1987; one brother,  Russell Garnett; two sisters, Iris Wright and Janet Wilson. She is survived by her  son, James and his wife, Nadine, of Clinton; a grandson, Dennis of Valencia,  California; other relatives and friends. Graveside services were Monday, March  17, at 2 p.m. at the Lowry City Cemetery. Rev. J. A. Hartley officiated. Burial was  in the Lowry City Cemetery. Arrangements were by Sheldon-Goodrich Funeral Home, Osceola.

Mrs. Viola Mae  Irvine, 72, a native of St. Clair County, died August 23, 1992, in Oakland,  California. She is survived by a sister, Bonnie Dunlap of Montrose; several nieces  and nephews. Cremation. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. at the cemetery in Appleton City. Rev. Clyde Merriman will officiate. Consalus Funeral Home handled local arrangements.
