TOALSON, Jessie Lewis Dark

Jessie Lewis Toalson was born December 31, 1920 to Zebuon Vance and Jessie Wood Dark. She passed away Wednesday morning, March 18, 1992 at Sac-Osage Hospital in Osceola. Jessie was born in Clifton Forge, Virginia. She was a 1941 graduate of Brenau College of Gainesville, Georgia, and a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. On December 29, 1945 Jessie was united in marriage to Glen F. Toalson in Covington, Virginia. In 1946 they moved to Osceola from Ft. Carson, Colorado. Jessie was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and was active in Toalson Oil Co., Jr. Tuesday Club, Tiger Club, and the Cub Scouts.
Jessie is survived by her husband, Glen of the home; two sons, Glen F. Toalson, Jr. and his wife, Jan, of Williamsburg, Va., Commander Vance L. Toalson and his wife, Cindy of Norfork, Va.; 3 grandchildren, Johnathan Vance Toalson, Stefani Elise Toalson and Chris Johns, other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 21, 1992 at Sheldon-Goodrich Chapel. Graveside services were held Monday, March 23, at Locust Bottom Cemetery, Glen Wilton, Virginia.

TODD, Mary Jane Dunaway

Mrs. Mary Todd - Almost A Centenarian  - Died at her home at Terry on March 20th, 1902, Mrs. Mary Todd, aged ninety-two years. Grandma Todd, as she was called, had been an invalid for about two years. She was born in Tennessee in 1810. In 1829 she was united in marriage with James Todd and in 1840 they moved to St. Clair county where they resided until removed by death. Mr. Todd preceeded his wife, he having died in 1875. Mrs. Todd was the mother of thirteen children, nine of whom survive her. Her eldest daughter, Mrs. Cynthia Bradley is seventy-one years of age. Two sons, J. W. and I. B. Todd, and two daughters, Mrs. W. H. Lord and Mrs. Caroline Wyatt, all reside near the old homestead. Deceased lived to see the fifth generation. Her remains were laid to rest at a place selected by her and her husband on the old homestead. A Friend

Paul Todd, 79, Osceola, died Friday, December 7, 2001, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Kansas City. Funeral services were 11 a.m. Monday, December 10, at the Sheldon-Goodrich Chapel. Burial was in Lowry City Cemetery.

TODD, R. Mark (Dr.)
Dr. R. Mark Todd, a resident of Michigan and a former resident of Osceola, MO, was killed in Detroit, Wednesday evening, February 10, 1965, when struck by a car. The impact threw him 30 feet and he met instant death. The car sideswiped three other cars before hitting Dr. Todd. Funeral services were held Monday, February 15. Dr. Todd built and operated the Osceola Hospital for a number or years. He was an Osteopathic Physician. Survivors are his wife, Elaine, two sons, David and Stanley and one daughter, Ann.

TOMPKINS, Esther Elizabeth Neuenschwander

Mrs. Esther E. Tompkins, 81, Deepwater, died Thursday, November 11, 1993 at Golden Valley Hospital. Esther Elizabeth Tompkins was born June 12, 1912 to Leon and Hedwig Esslinger Neuenschwander in St. Clair County, Mo. Her early years were spent in the Lowry City and Deepwater areas where she attended the Valley Center Grade School and graduated from the Lowry City High School. After attending Missouri University and Teacher's College at Warrensburg, she taught for 1 1/2 years at the cold Springs School near Leeton. It was at this small rural school that she met Howard Tompkins who had gallantly offered to remove some fallen branches from the school house. They were married on February 14, 1935, Valentine's Day, in her folks home near Deepwater. To this union were born two children, Rebecca, who died in infancy, and Robert Neill of Warrensburg. Howard preceded Esther in death by exactly two weeks. Esther and Howard lived in Amarillo, Texas for two years before returning to the Lowry City/Deepwater area where they built and operated the Valley Center Market for many years. After 20 years, Esther returned to college and completed her BS in Education from CMSU in Warrensburg. After teaching three years at Diamond Point School near Brownington, she went to the Lowry City School District where she completed an additional 21 years of elementary teaching, retiring in 1978. Esther had many interests but her greatest love was Howard. She was his best friend and constant companion. Their relationship was founded in lifelong love for each other. Her other real love was for her church. She was an active member of the Valley Center United Church of Christ where she served as the church organist for 25 years. She was also active in the Ladies Aid Organization as well as the West Central Missouri Genealogical Society. Other interests included quilting and gardening. Summer time around the Tompkins' household always brought forth beautiful flower arrangements. Esther is survived by a son, Robert of Warrensburg; two granddaughters, Kyla Creollo of Grove, Oklahoma, and Kristle of Sedalia; two great granddaughters, Kaycie and Kalley of Grove, Ok; a sister, Hilda Laughman of West Covina, Ca.; several nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. Funeral services were Sunday, November 14, 1993 at Valley Center United Church of Christ, with burial in the Valley Center Cemetery.

TOMPKINS, Howard Earl

Howard E. Tompkins, 81, of Deepwater, died Thursday, October 28, 1993 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City. Howard Earl Tompkins was born June 27, 1912 to David and Mary Tompkins near Leeton. His early years were spent in the Leeton area where he attended the Cold Springs Rural School. Howard married Esther Neuenschwander on February 14, 1935, Valentine's Day, in her folks home near Deepwater. To this union were born two children, Rebecca, who died in infancy, and Robert Neill of Warrensburg. Howard and Esther lived in Amarillo, Texas for two years before returning to Lowry City/Deepwater area. He held various forms of employment including building and operating the Valley Center Market for several years. He also was a school bus driver for the Lowry City School District for 21 years. The love of Howard's life was his wife, Esther. She was more than a wife to him. She was his best friend and constant companion. Theirs was truly a loving relationship. Howard was a well-known man. He had a wonderful sense of humor, and seldom met a stranger. He was an avid outdoorsman and spent the greater part of his life hunting or with fine horses. But his greatest love was running his foxhounds. He had no greater enjoyment than to sit around the campfire, listen to the hounds run, and visit with his hunting buddies. He will be truly missed by his family and many friends.
Howard is survived by his wife, Esther of the home; a son, Robert of Warrensburg; two granddaughters, Kyla Creollo of Joplin and Kristie of Sedalia; two great-granddaughters, Kaycie and Kalley of Joplin; three sisters, Edith Jerome of Blairstown, Gladys Poynter of Morgantown, Indiana and Doris Jessup of Butler; several nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. Funeral services were Sunday, October 31, at Valley Center United Church of Christ. Burial was in Valley Center Cemetery.

TOMPKINS, Robert Neill

Robert N. Tompkins, 55, Warrensburg, died July 11, 1996, at Shawnee Mission Hospital, Shawnee Mission, Ks. He was battling brain cancer. The family received friends on July 13 at the Central Missouri State University Alumni Chapel, Warrensburg. Funeral services were held on July 14, at the Sheldon-Goodrich Chapel, Osceola. Pallbearers were Lynn Solomon, Jim Hudson, Ronald Vandam, Floyd Walker, Roger Denker and Jim Conn. Honorary pallbearers were Mike Carter, Jim Pilkington, David Defrain, Curt Reams, Dean Vogelaar, Rusty Newman and Gary Walsner. The funeral service was conducted by Ronald Vandam with eulogies given by Jim Crane, Lynn Solomon, Jim Hudson and Elois Pelton. Burial was at the Valley Center Cemetery, Deepwater.
Mr. Tompkins was born on October 7, 1941, in St. Clair County, the son of Howard and Esther Tompkins. Mr. Tompkins graduated from Lowry City High School. He graduated from Central Missouri State College in 1962 with a bachelor of education degree and his master of education degree in 1963; and his doctorate of education degree in 1968 from the University of Utah. At Central Missouri State University he taught physical education for 33 years and coached Mules baseball at CMSU for 15 years from 1965 through 1980 compiling a 248-164-1 record (.602 winning percentage). The 248 wins and 15 seasons as head coach are the most wins for any Mules' baseball coach. Under Tompkins, the Mules baseball teams won MIAA titles in 1966, 1971 and 1874 and earned NCAA tournament berths in 1971 and 1974. The 1974 squad finished fourth in the nation. In 1974, Tompkins was named the MIAA Coach of the Year. Tompkins and the 1974 baseball team have been inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame at CMSU. Tompkins played baseball for the Mules and was an All-American pitcher and a three-year letterman. He received the Outstanding Senior Male Athlete Award in 1962. He coached the Mules' and Jennies' tennis teams from 1985-87. Dr. Tompkins was a professor in the CMSU Department of Physical Education for 33 years. He sponsored the Physical Education Majors club for 20 years. His memberships were in the American Alliance of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance, member of the Missouri Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance where he was currently serving as president. Honors received from MAHPERD include the Robert Taylor Outstanding Service Award and the Presidential Awards for Service. He was a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society in Education. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Esther Tompkins, and a sister, Rebecca Tompkins. He is survived by his two daughters, Kyla Jean Creollo of Joplin and Kristie Lynne Sterrett, Lee's Summit; two granddaughters, Kacie Lynne and Kalley, Marie Creollo of Joplin.

TRAUTWEILER, Alfred Augustus Jr.

Alfred Augustus Trautweiler, Jr., passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2006. He was born in Newaark, N.J., on July 16, 1941, to Alfred Augustus and Mary Ramage Trautweiler, who both pre-deceased him. After completing a degree in Business Management at the University of Southern Mississippi, he worked in Sales Management for R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. for 32 years. He married Eleanor Louise DePriest on May 30, 1964. He is survived by his wife; two sons, Alfred III and Blair; a granddaughter, Megan Janelle; and a daughter-in-law, Courtney.
He moved to Catoosa, Okla., in November of 2004, to be nearer to his sons. He lived in Westfield, Mass., for 28 years. Graveside services were Friday, July 28, at Osceola cemetery officated by Father Larry Lewis.
Interment was in Osceola cemetery. Arrangements were made by Sheldon-Goodrich Funeral Home, Osceola.

TRUITT, Cecil Albert

Cecil Albert Truitt, 94, Humansville, died Monday, Nov. 15, 1999, in Sac-Osage Hospital, Osceola. The son of Edward Franklin and Clara Mae Wolfe Truitt, he was born Aug. 6, 1905, near Collins. He attended eight years of school at Shady Nook School northwest of Collins. He worked in the oil fields of California for eight years. He returned to Missouri and was married to Opal Martin in Garnett, Kan., April 10, 1930. The couple resided for the past 60 years on their farm north of Humansville. He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Opal, on Sept. 20, 1999; his parents; and two brothers, Claude Truitt and Homer Truitt. Survivors include his four children and their spouses, Joyce and Ken Borchardt of Novato, Calif., Wayne and Darlene Truitt of Stockton, Shirley and Lloyd Keller and Robert Truitt, all of Humansville; 11 grandchildren, Greg and Jeff Borchardt, Kim Hammer, Dianne Truitt, Debbie Maloney, Denise Wheeler, Allan, Randy, Donald and Steve Keller and Jean Stiles; 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Services were Thursday, Nov. 18, 1999, in Murray Chapel, Humansville, with the Rev. Martin Micke officiating. Pallbearers were Jeff Brochardt, Allan Keller, Randy Keller, Steve Keller, Michael Maloney and Shawn Maloney. Interment was in Robinson Cemetery east of Collins.

TRUITT, Jake Randolph
Jake Randolph (Randy) Truitt was born in Arkansas on March 13, 1932, and passed away March 15, 2007 at his home in Lowry City, Mo. Randy was raised by his grandparents in Arkansas until he was 13 years old. He went to live with his mother, F. Lucille and Ernest Truitt, in the area around Polo, Mo. They later moved to Willow Springs, Mo. where Randy graduated from high school, married, and had 3 kids. Randy worked at a variety of jobs, farming, Pepsi Cola route delivery man, St. Regis paper company, and at the family locker plant in Willow Springs. In 1968, Randy moved to Kansas City, Mo., where he married Elizabeth Ann Owens on August 30, 1968, his wife for the past 39 years. Randy and Betty then moved back to Willow Springs to operate the family locker plant. During this time, Randy began a dairy business with one cow and eventually retired as a successful dairyman after 25 years of selling milk to the area creamery. In 2001, Randy and Betty moved to Lowry City, Mo., where Randy enjoyed gardening, fishing, and woodworking. He faithfully served the Lord as a Sunday school teacher at the First Baptist Church of Lowry City and was a friend to many in the Lowry City and Osceola communities. Randy was precded in death by his parents, Ernest L. and Fairy L. Truitt, his beloved uncle, Jesse Manning, beloved cousin, Jr. Hill and his aunt, Ruby Ulrich. Randy is survived by his four children, Timothy D. Cheever, Barbara Preston, Carmen Harris, and Tracy Hudson, nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and many friends.

TUCK, Doris E. Tharp

Doris E. (Tharp) Tuck, age 76, of Warsaw, Missouri, formerly of Shawnee, Kansas, passed away Wednesday morning, September 26, 2007, at the Lincoln Community Nursing Home in Lincoln, Missouri. She was born in Roscoe, Missouri, on October 24, 1930, the daughter of James C. and Hazel D. Porter Fowler. She grew up in the Roscoe community. On January 13, 1952, she was united in marriage to Robert L. Tharp and then made their home in Kansas City. She worked for the Traveler's Insurance for over thirty years. She was a member of the Warsaw Christian Church. And she was a member of the Eastern Star for over fifty years. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, James E. Fowler, and her first husband, Robert L. Tharp. Doris is survived by her husband of seventeen years, Sam G. Tuck, of the home; two daughters, Lynn Beasley, and her husband, Richard, of Warsaw, Missouri, and Teri Troutman, and her husband, Chuck, of Osawatomie, Kansas; one step-daughter, Jeanne Smith & family; her grandchildren, Luke, Ashley and Karina Beasley and Chuck and Krystal Troutman; two great-granddaughters, other relatives and many friends. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 A.M. Saturday morning, September 29, 2007, at the Reser Funeral Home in Warsaw, Missouri, with Rev. Richard Bowman and Rev. Robert Minshall, officiating. Graveside Services and Burial will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday afternoon, at the Johnson County Memorial Garden in Kansas City, Kansas. No visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lincoln Community Nursing home in care of the funeral home.

TUCKER, Benjamin Franklin

Benjamin Franklin Tucker was born in St. Clair County on May 28, 1857 and departed this life on July 6, 1938 at the age of 81 years, 1 month, and 8 days. On March 18, 1878 he was united in marriage to Miss Martha Frances Pennington of St. Clair County. To this union was born Mrs. Della Doyal, of Still well, Kansas, Mrs. Carrie Rogers, of Lebo, Kans; Mrs. Letha Terry of Lexington, Mrs. Eva Stevens, of Collins; Mrs. Lula Baumgarden, of Collins; Perry Tucker of Newton, Kansas; and Everett Tucker, of Butler. Early in life Mr. Tucker and his wife were converted and untied with Gerster Baptist Church where they were members until death. Several years ago Mrs. Tucker answered the summons to come up higher. For the last nine years he has made his home with Mr. and Mrs. Letus Stevens where everything possible was done to make his last years happy and comfortable. He was a good husband and a good father and neighbor, liked and respected by all who knew him. On July 4 he went with a group of friends and relative on a picnic outing and seemed to enjoy life to the fullest, never dreaming that death had prepared to struck so soon. The last day before death came he was as well as for several years, and was out doors, so when he was found dead the next morning it was a shock to all. Besides the children, he is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Pitney Allen, of Overland Park, Kansas; and Mrs. Matt Robinson, of Springfield; a brother, Louis, of Kansas City; three half-sisters, Mrs. E. Perkins of Osceola; Mrs. John Todd of Gerster; and Mrs. Margaret Lovall of Fort Scott, Kansas, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was laid to rest on July 7, 1938 in the Kings Prairie Cemetery with the sermon by Rev. Albert Gaston, of Gerster. Pallbearers were Otha Stephens, Charlie Stephens, Roy Stephens, Homer Doyal, and Avery Baumgarden, all of whom were grandchildren. - To me not in mournful numbers. - Life is but an empty dream. - The soul is dead that slumbers, - And all things are not what they seem. - Life is real; Life is earnest - And the grave is not its goal - Dust thou are, to dust returnest, - Was not spoken to the Soul.

TUCKER, Edith Parke

Edith Parke Tucker was born October 4, 1900 on a farm near Weaubleau, Missouri to William and Lucy DeLozier Parke. She passed away September 23, 1986 at Ozark Methodist Manor in Marionville, Missouri. She was a graduate of Osceola High School. She taught at the Oak Grove and Kings Prairie Schools. In December of 1919, she was united in marriage to Toby Monroe Tucker. To this union three children were born.
In 1925, they went to Findlay College in Findlay, Ohio, graduation in 1929. Fifty years of ministry in the Methodist Church took them to Fort Scott, Kansas, Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Fort Wayne, Indiana, Columbia City, Indiana, Toledo, Ohio, and Osceola and Buckner, Missouri. They retired to Bolivar in 1962 and enjoyed the first home they had owned. Edith sold the house and moved into an apartment in the Methodist Manor in Marionville. She enjoyed the Manor very much until a recent illness. Edit was preceded in death by Toby in 1969, a daughter Ruth Elaine in 1936 and by two brothers, Perry and Warder Parke. She is survived by one son, Maurice Monroe Parke of Lancaster, Texas, one daughter, Mrs. Mary Joplin of Hobbs, New Mexico, a brother, Fay Parke of Weaubleau, Mo, a sister, Mrs. Neva Black of Kansas City, MO and four grandchildren, Michelle and Scott Tucker and Julia and Charles Joplin, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

TUCKER, Edna Nickel

Edna Tucker was born October 27, 1902 near Osceola, Missouri in St. Clair County, the daughter of Louis H. and Belle Corbin Nickel. She departed this life September 21, 1986 at her home in Weaubleau. After graduation from Osceola High School, she attended Southwest Missouri Teachers College and taught school in St. Clair County. On April 17, 1925, she was married to John E. Tucker. They moved to a farm near Gerster, Missouri, where they lived until his death in 1964. As a young girl, she gave her heart to the Lord and joining the Osceola Baptist Church. After moving to Gerster, she served her church as church clerk and taught the young people’s Sunday school class for many years. She moved to Weaubleau in 1968 and enjoyed he home hear her church, the First Baptist, which she loved and attended faithfully until her death. She is survived by her daughter, Peggy Jean, and son-in-law, John Endley of Weaubleau, Missouri; two granddaughters, Carolyn Callen and her husband Bill of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Joslyn Dunafon and her husband Dave of Columbia, Missouri; five great grandchildren, Karen and Kendra Callen, Cameron, Jill and Andrea Dunafon; one sister Bessie Moore, Osceola, Missouri; three sisters-in-law, Laura, Wanita, and Edith Nickel; one niece, two nephews, along with many friends and her church family.

TUCKER, Ethel B. Kelley

Ethel Kelley Tucker, only child of George T. and Edith M. Williams Kelley, was born June 24, 1907 near Osceola and departed this life November 12, 1993 at the Sac Osage Hospital, Osceola, Mo. She spent her early life on a farm near Osceola. At the age of nice, she gave her heart to the Lord and was united with the Osceola First Baptist Church. She attended Osceola High School graduating with the class of 1925. She taught country schools in the Osceola area until her marriage to Homer R. Tucker on March 31, 1929. Ethel and Homer lived in Springfield for a short time before moving back to Osceola. After moving back to Osceola, Edith was a working partner with her husband in the Tucker Dairy. The dairy grew into a large processing and bottling plant. Ethel was the accountant and bookkeeper for the dairy plant and the Tucker Apartments and served as manager for the Sweet Shop. Ethel was a good musician. As long as her health permitted she sang in the community choir in their special performances. She enjoyed serving and visiting with the customers during the years they owned and operated the West Central Music Store before their retirement. Ethel opened her heart and home to three young people who survived her, Ronald Puckett, Wichita, KS, Denny Basore and his wife Linda, Deepwater, MO, Karen Austin and her husband Stan, Farwell, TX. Also surviving are several cousins, four who call her Grandmother, Clint and Lyndi Austin, Travis and Tyson Basore and her faithful neighbor, Chester Kottwitz, who cared fro her as a son. Services were held Monday, November 15th, at 10 a.m. at the Sheldon-Goodrich Chapel with the Rev. Mary Biesemeyer officiating.Music was provided by Richard Powell, Vocalist and Mary Lu Hildebrand, Pianist. Casketbearers were Stan Austin, Chester Kottwitz, Ron Puckett, Wilmer “Butch” Cutler, John Endley, and Kirk Sibley. Interment was in the Osceola Cemetery under the direction of Randy Sheldon of Sheldon-Goodrich Funeral Home.

TUCKER, Homer Roy

Homer T. Tucker, youngest child of Thomas E. and Delia Johndrow Tucker, was born March 20, 1908 on a farm near Gerster, Mo. He departed this life December 23, 1992 at the Truman Lake Manor in Lowry City, Mo. He spent his early life in the Gerster area. As a young man he gave his heart to the Lord. He attended the Oscoela High School, graduating with the class of 1925. He married Ethel Kelly on March 31, 1929 After a short time in Springfield they moved back to Osceola and started the “Tucker Dairy” with the first milk delivery service in the area. The Dairy grew from a small beginning to a large bottling plant. When the need came for more space and better equipment he built the large building the square in Osceola which housed the milk processing plant and the Tucker Apartments. Later a Sweet Shop was included in the business. One of his greatest pleasures was delivering milk to the Boy Scouts Camp, and being with the scouts and their leaders. For the last 15 years before his retirement he owned and operated the West Central Music Store in Osceola. He tuned pianos for many people as well as repaired their TV’s. Homer’s love for music caused him to be involved in community choirs, church choirs, and many quartets. He loved to travel with the “Tradesman Quartet” to sing in churches and for community activities. He served all the offices of the Osceola Rotary Club. He always attended any club that he had an opportunity and attended many national and international meetings. Homer was active in the Grace United Methodist church singing in the choir as long as his health permitted. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ethel. Their home was not blessed with children but their love reached out to three children who survive, Ronald Pucket, Wichita, Kansas, Dennie Basore and his wife Linda, Deepwater, MO, Karen Austin and her husband Stan, Farwell, Texas. Also surviving are one nephew, Maurice Tucker, Lancaster, Texas, two nieces, Peggy Endley, Weaubleau, MO, Mary Joplin, Lubbock, Texas, and four who call him Grand Dad, Clint and Lyndi Austin, Travis and Tyson Basore, and a neighbor, Chester Kottwitz, who is like a son, and many friends and associates. Services were held Sunday, December 27 at 1 p.m. at Sheldon-Goodrich Chapel with Rev. Mary Biesemeyer, Officiating. Music was furnished by Mrs. Yvonne Purdy, Soloist and Mrs. Josephine Belisle at the piano. Casketbearers were Stan Austin, Dennie Basore, Chester Kottwitz, Wilmer Cutler, Ron Puckett, and John Endley. Honorary casketbearers were the Osceola Rotary Club. Interment was held at the Osceola Cemetery under the direction of Randy Sheldon of Sheldon-Goodrich Funeral Home of Osceola.

Lifelong Gerster Resident Dies - Funeral services were held in the Gerster Baptist Church Saturday afternoon, Oct. 31 for John Edwin Tucker, who died Oct 29 on the farm where he was born and had spent his entire life.
Officiating at the services were Rev. Charles A. Whaley and Rev. Tommy Burgdorf. Burial was made in the Osceola cemetery under the direction of Goodrich Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Omer Best, Edwin Lacey, Ira Miller, David King, Dewey Wheeler, and Irwin Burns. Mr. Tucker, son of Thomas and Cordelia Johndrow Tucker, was born near Gerster March 5, 1900. In 1925 he was married to Edna Nickel. One daughter, Peggy, Mrs. Jon Endley, was born to the couple. There are tow granddaughters, Carolyn and Joylyn Endley. Other survivors are two sisters, Mrs. Linnie Baxter and Miss Leona Tucker of Bolivar and two brothers, Tobie of Bolivar and Homer of Osceola. He was converted and baptized at an early age and has been a worker in the Gerster Baptist church for many years.

Nina Leona Tucker, the third daughter of Thomas E. and Delia Johndrow Tucker was born Feb. 26, 1898 near Gerster, Mo. She departed this life Feb. 28, at 8:00 p.m. while she was reviewing the Home Missions book “Journey to California” at Fellowship Baptist Church at Lesterville, MO. Leona began teaching at the age of seventeen in the rural schools in St. Clair and Hickory counties. She taught high school at Osceola, MO, Frankfort, Kansas, and Borger, Texas. She taught at Southwest Baptist College, Bolivar from 1937 until her retirement in 1970. She earned a Bachelor’s degree from S.M.S.U in Springfield and a Masters Degree from Missouri University in Columbia. She did Doctoral work at Peabody University in Tennessee. Miss Tucker was an active member of the First Baptist Church, Bolivar, the W.M.U. and W.C.J.U. religious organizations. Miss Tucker is survived by one brother, Homer, of Osceola, Mo, two nieces, Peggy Endley of Weaubleau, Mo, and Mary Joplin of Roswell, New Mexico; one nephew, Maurice Tucker of Lancaster, Texas, six great nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Tobie and John and two sisters, Ora, in early childhood and Linnie Baxter. She will be missed by relatives and friends. She was an inspiration to everyone whose lives she touched.

Rev. T. M. Tucker, 72, a retired Methodist Minister, died at 5:40 a.m. Tuesday, February 4, at Burge Protestant Hospital in Springfield, Missouri following a short illness. A resident of Bolivar the past several years and a native of Osceola, he had been an active minister over 40 years. A veteran of WWI, he was a member of the Untied Methodist Church, Bolivar, Missouri, the Bolivar Kiwanis Club and WWI Barracks of Bolivar. His ministries included Pastorates in Osceola, Corder, Bucker, Kansas, and Oklahoma, Indiana, and Ohio. He is survived by his wife, Edith of the home, one son, Maurice Monroe Tucker of Dallas, Texas, one daughter, Mrs. Mary Lynn Joplin of Roswell, New Mexico; two sisters, Mrs. Linnie Baxter and Miss Leona Tucker, both of Bolivar and one granddaughter. Funeral services will be announced by the Pitts Funeral Home.

Rev. Tobie Tucker Rites Feb. 6 - Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon, Feb 6, at 2 p.m. at the Methodist church in Bolivar for Rev. Tobie Tucker, who was born and reared here. A former pastor in Osceola, Rev. Tucker died Feb 4 at Burge Hospital in Springfield. He is a brother of Homer Tucker of Osceola. Burial will be made in the Osceola cemetery.

Audrey B. [Paul] Tuff was born January 15, 1919 in Monegaw Springs to P.W. and Pearl Paul. She died Feb6 in Oroville, California where she has resided since 1997. Audrey graduated from Roscoe High School and left home in 1940 to reside in California. She retired from the Department of Defense as a transportation coordinator. She attended many Monegaw Reunions during her retirement while residing in New Mexico and California. Audrey was preceded in death by her brothers, Lawrence, Walter and Bill Paul and sisters, Marty Estep and Cleta Fay Phillips. Audrey is survived by her brothers Jack, Richard and Ernie Paul and her sister Peggy Guth and numerous nephews and nieces. At her request no services were held.

TURNER, John B.
John B. Turner Dies Suddenly
The lifeless body of John B. Turner, 74, was found Monday morning about 8:30 by an employee of the Lampkin Brothers Elevator just east of the elevator. Sheriff Shirley Collins and the St. Clair County Coroner, Paul Firestone, were notified and the coroner pronounced the death due to natural causes. Members of Mr. Turner's family, the sheriff, city marshal Glen Davis and many volunteers had searched long hours for Mr. Turner after his son reported him missing that morning. He had been seen last by friends late Saturday evening, and his family feared for his safety. The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon at the First Baptist Church and burial was at the Oak Hill Cemetery at Butler.

Nancy Lou Ann Turner - Nancy Lou Ann Murphy, daughter of Rev. J B and Eliza Murphy, was born in Putnam County, MO, June 12, 1857. She departed this life February 23, 1932 after a brief illness of Flu – Pneumonia, at the age of 74 years, 8 months and 11 days. With her parents she moved to Saint Clair County in 1868. She was married to B G Turner in 1874. To this union 3 sons were born, Charles, of Ohio, MO, Ora, who departed this life at the age of 11 months, and W. D. of Collbran, CO. Her companion passed away September 27, 1917. She had made her home with her son Charles for a number of years. She was converted at an early age of 14 years and lived a consistent Christian life. Her daily convictions was always interspersed (sp) with talk of her savior and quotations of the bible. She was loved and respected by all that knew her. She was laid to rest February 24th in the Harmony Cemetery by the side of her husband, after the funeral services conducted by A. W. Allinson, a childhood friend, in the presents of relatives and friends. Besides her two sons she leaves 4 Grandchildren, John Turner and Mrs. Frank Williams of Ohio, MO, and Lelia and Ernest Turner of Collbran, Co, six Great Grand Children and four sisters, Mrs. Sarah Scott, of Elgin Oregon, and Mrs. Ruth Harvey, Liberal, Kansas, Mrs. Margaret Boyd, Decatur, Illinois, Mrs. Ida Williamson, Filer, Idaho, one brother, Kirah Murphy of Flier, Idaho, besides a host of other relatives and friends. She is sadly missed but we know her loss is her great gain and happiness.

Wolford L. Turner, 93, formerly of Kansas City, peacefully went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2007, in San Antonio, Texas. Wolford was born on June 9, 1914, in Branch, Ark., to Thomas and Caledonia Turner. Wolford was honorably discharged after serving in the Coast Guard during World War II. He was a life time employee of General Motors. Wolford was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Kathryn Turner and his grandson, Steve. He is survived by his daughters, Darlene Underwood, Jane Accuros and her husband, Tony, Kathy Glow and her husband, Tom; grandchildren, Michael, Vickie, Pam, Dennis, Kenneth, Teresa, Darryl, David, Shelly, Giavanna, Matthia, Anthony, Augustine, Isabel, Ashley and Justin; numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Services were Sunday, Oct. 21, at the Sheldon-Goodrich Chapel with Reverend Fred Stevens officiating. Casketbearers were Gary Myers, Matthia Accurso, Randy Sheldon, Anthony Accurso, Scott Glow, Justin Glow and Rick Jarrett. Interment was in the Osceola Cemetery under the direction of Sheldon-Goodrich Funeral Home, Osceola.

Stella Opal Tuter, daughter of Charles and Maude Niece Boyles, was born September 3, 1901, in St. Clair County. She passed away January 7, 1992, at the Sycamore View Healthcare Center in Clinton at the age of 90. She lived in this area most of her life. She was married to Erven Tuter who preceded her in death in 1959. She worked in the food service business, being employed as both cook and waitress in restaurants over the years. She was a member of the Calhoun Baptist Church. She is survived by one son, Clester (Mike) Tuter of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and two daughters, Cleora Witherspoon and Emma Burton, both of Clinton; 23 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one son. Funeral services were 2 p.m. Thursday, January 9, 1992, at the Consalus Chapel, Clinton. Reverend Craig Stevens officiating. Pallbearers were Gordon Ware, Bobby Ware, Mike Burton, Wayne Burton, Dale Tuter, Erven Tuter, Keith Tuter and Ralph Tuter. Burial was in Englewood Cemetery.

Zella Viola Tuter was born January 10, 1910, in Purcell, Oklahoma, the daughter of Charles and Clouva (Fox) Ware. She passed away October 1, 1992, at Westwood Nursing Home at the age of 82. She was married to Henry Everett Tuter in 1928. To this union eight children were born. She was a member of the Northeast Baptist Church. She is survived by two sons, Wilson Tuter of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Bill Tuter of Deepwater; three daughters, Kathleen Shoemaker of Kansas City, Marie Campbell of Springfield, and Opal Myers of Deepwater; four sisters, Helen Long, Nola Tuter, Betty Long and Leona Henson, all of Springfield; 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Everett; two sons, Earl Dee Tuter and Kenneth Olen Tuter, and one daughter, Kathryn Lee Tuter. Services were at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, October 3, 1992, at the Consalus Chapel, Clinton. Brother Jim Hammock officiated. Pallbearers were Rick Tuter, Roger Tuter, Freddie Tuter, Bryan Courtney, Tom Courtney and John Myers. Burial was in Harris Bend Cemetery, St. Clair County.

TYLER, Gerald Bennett

Gerald Bennett Tyler, born on July 10, 1920 in Mexico, Missouri, the son of Estel Jackson and Floy (Bennett) Tyler, died peacefully in his home in Odessa Tuesday, June 14, 2005, at the age of 84 years. Gerald was in the Merchant Marines during World War II. He had traveled all over the world. He came back to Missouri in 1954, met and married Helen Rosenbuch. They had been married for 42 years before she preceded him in death. Helen had three children, Bobbi, Merlin and Ramona. Gerald also had many grandchildren and one in particular who was like a son to him, Craig Knight. He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. Gerald is survived by his one stepson, Merlin Barton, Crescent City, California; two step-daughters, Bobbi Lucas, Kansas City, and Bessie Ramona Strickland, Corder; eight step-grandchildren; 12 step great-grandchildren; two step great-great grandchildren; three nieces, Susan Chrisman and Jeanette Gardner, both of Springfield, and Billie Joe Wilkerson, St. Louis, as well as two caregivers who became close to him during these last few months, Debbie Wheeler and Marilyn Mace. Funeral services were held at Vansant-Mills Chapel Thursday, June 16. Interment was in the Landaker Cemetery, Lowry City.
