ULBRIGHT, Doris Etheleen Orr

Doris Ethleleen Orr Ulbright, age 79, of Humansville, passed away
April 25, 2005, at Sac-Osage Hospital, Osceola.
She was born Jan. 4, 1926, at Kidder to Richard and Sophia Gooding
Orr. She grew up in Kidder and graduated from Hamilton High School in
1944. She married Ralph C. Ulbright Nov. 9, 1947, and they had two
children, Charles Wayne Ulbright and Barbara Elaine Ulbright. During
World War II she worked at Motorola and J.C. Penney at Hamilton.
Following that she worked at the Shoe Factory and then at Ferguson
Plastics of Richmond for 17 years. Then she took care of her mother,
Sophia Orr, until the time of her death.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Rita Cole; and two
brothers, Lindy Orr and Paul Orr.
Survivors include two children, Wayne Ulbright of Collins and Barbara
Ulbright of Richmond; one sister, Lois Foster of Weaubleau; two
brothers, Kenneth Orr and his wife, Ann of Winston and Dean Orr and
his wife, Donna of Hamilton; two sister-in-laws, Lorene Orra and Peggy
Orr.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 29, 2005, at
Hathaway-Peterman Chapel with Rev. Gary Strickland officiating.
Graveside services were at the Bethel Cemetery, Polo, under the
direction of the Hathaway-Peterman Funeral Home, Wheatland.

ULREY, Virginia Clark

Virginia Clark Ulrey of Kansas City, MO, was the daughter of George
Ezra and Martha Anne (Smith) Clark. She was born on May 11, 1917, in
Appleton City, MO. She passed away on November 30, 2004, at North
Kansas City Hospital at the age of 87 years. Mrs. Ulrey had lived in
Kansas City since 1936. She was united in marriage to Harry O. Ulrey
on October 4, 1940, in Kansas City, MO. Virginia liked to travel and
enjoyed needlework, cooking and raising African Violets. She was
preceded in death by her parents, husband, and all three of her
sisters, Naomi Dodds, Esther Dixon and Mary Songer. She is survived by
three nieces, Patricia Tarver of Kansas City, MO, Sue Iman of Blue
Springs, MO, and Donna Songer of Kansas City, MO; four great-nieces;
one greatnephew; and one great-great-nephew. She will be sadly missed

UNDERWOOD, Clell Edward

Clell Edward Underwood died January 4, 2000, at his home in Pleasant
Hill. He was born in St. Clair County April 4, 1909, to Elmer B. and
Beatrice Inskeep Underwood, the ninth of 11 children, all deceased
except for Blanche Manbeck of Clinton. Clell was united in marriage to
Ellen Arminta Knight on December 1, 1931, in Deepwater. Ellen preceded
him in death on August 3, 1998. Clell and Ellen settled around Chalk
Level and Ohio Post Office and farmed during the Depression days,
trading lots of animals and squirrel hunting. Clell moved his family
to his father's farm in 1940 when his father moved to Stotesbury to
run the general store. In the spring of 1946, Clell bought the general
store from his father and they exchanged residences. Fifteen months
later Clell sold the store and moved the family back to Chalk Level
and went to the wheat harvest that summer and helped with plowing.
After returning home he moved to Deepwater. He then joined the Labor
Union in Sedalia where he worked on construction around Clinton as
labor foreman. He was a concrete finisher for Highway 52, the Clinton
High School, Montrose Power Plant and many local bridges. Retiring at
age 62, he built his home in Appleton City and worked on Ellen's home
place around Chalk Level. His interests were hunting, fishing and
caring for his cattle. He also loved to garden. Clell is survived by
two sons, Rolla and wife, JoAnn of Pleasant Hill and Lynn Underwood
and wife, Shirley of Sedalia; four granddaughters, Jackie Flathers,
Sondra Eaton, Kameha Underwood and Dana Winebrenner; two grandsons,
Roger Underwood and Randy Underwood, as well as nine
great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Funeral services
were held at the Vansant-Mills Chapel on Saturday, January 8, at 11
a.m. with Rev. Robert Fenwick officiating. Pallbearers were Tom
Winebrenner, Brandon Flathers, Roger Underwood, Robert Terryberry,
Randy Underwood, Myron Knight and Stanley Knight. Burial was in the
Clinton Memory Gardens Cemetery, Clinton, under the direction of
Vansant-Mills Funeral Home of Clinton.
UNDERWOOD, Ellen Arminta Knight

Ellen Arminta Underwood was born October 28, 1910, to James and Stella
Knight in St. Clair County. She attended Chalk Level and Lowry City
schools. Ellen confessed Jesus Christ Lord and Savior when she was 10
years old, and attended Kidd's Chapel Church and later the Ohio
Christian Church. On December 1, 1931, she was married to Clell Edward
Underwood in the home of Rev. Walkup, minister of the Deepwater
Presbyterian Church. Clell and Ellen made their home in the Chalk
Level and Ohio neighborhood until 1946 and then in Deepwater for 31
years. They lived in Appleton City then until about four years ago
when they moved to the Pleasant Hill Health and Rehabilitation Center
in Pleasant Hill. Ellen was preceded in death by her parents; two
brothers, Ralph and Arnold, and one sister, Lillian, who died at nine
months of age. Ellen is survived by her husband, Clell, their two
sons, Rolla Wesley Underwood and his wife, JoAnn, Pleasant Hill, and
their four children, Jacqualine Sue, Roger Lynn, Sondra Louise and
Randall Gene, and Wendell Lynn Underwood and his wife, Shirley Darlene
of Sedalia, and their two children, Kameha Ruth and Dana Rae. She is
also survived by nine great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews
and many friends. Ellen died Monday, august 3, 1998, at about 4:30 in
the afternoon at the Pleasant Hill Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Funeral services were held at the Vansant-Mills Chapel Friday, August
7, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Robert Fenwick officiating. Pallbearers were
Roger Underwood, Randy Underwood, Brandon Flaters, Robert Terryberry,
Myron "Sparky" Knight and Stanley Knight. Burial was in the Clinton
Memory Gardens Cemetery, Clinton, under the direction of Vansant-Mills
Funeral Home of Clinton.
UNDERWOOD, James Alfred

James Alfred Underwood was born April 27, 1895 in St. Clair Co.,
Missouri to Elmer and Beatrice Inskeep Underwood He died July 1 1980
at the Independence Medical Center at the age of 85 years, two months
four days.
Jim Underwood spent most of his life in St. Clair and Henry County
areas. He was a construction worker and worked at the Dickey Clay
Factory in Deepwater until its closing. He was a member of the
Deepwater Baptist Church. In 1926 he married Wanda May Emerson. To
this union four children were born.
He is survived by three sons, James E. of Windsor, Elmer of Tarsney
Lake and Billy L. of Lee's Summit; one daughter, Mrs. Wanda Rose West
of Lone Jack; one brother, Clell Underwood of Appleton City; three
sisters, Blanche Manbeck and Faye Ballew, both of Clinton, and Grace
Richardson of Appleton City; 11 grandchildren and five
great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were July 3 at the Goodrich Chapel in Osceola with
the Rev. Jesse Taylor officiating. Pallbearers were Billy Dykes, James
Dykes, Dean Mullikin, Barry Underwood, Jay Underwood, Jim Ed
Underwood, and Albert West. Burial was in Westfield cemetery.
UNDERWOOD, John Franklin

John Franklin Underwood was born on January 11, 1945 at his home west
of Stockton, Mo. to George and Delta Underwood and left this world of
constant pain on October 24, 2006.
Frank is survived by the love of his life, Donna Rae (Barnes)
Underwood of the home and his two sons, David and wife Jennifer of
Butler, Mo., and Matt and his wife Vanessa of Stockton, Mo., other
relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be Friday, Oct. 27, 2006 at 10 a.m. in teh New
Hope Baptist Church in Stockton, Mo. Burial will be in the Lindley
Prairie Cemetery in Stockton, Mo. Family will receive friends
Thursday, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Oct. 26, 2006 at the church.
UNDERWOOD, Maurice Eugene
Maurice Eugene Underwood was born September 21, 1924 in Rockville,
to Zoa and Grace E. Denney Underwood and passed away July 27, 2000 at
Cox South in Springfield.
He married Ida B. Irvin on June 5, 1955. To this union one daughter
was born, Nancy J. Nelson.
Maurice was preceded in death by his parents Zoa and Grace; one
sister, Grace Iona Underwood and his wife, Ida Belle Underwood.
He is survived by his daughter, Nancy J. Nelson, Appleton City; one
grandson, Asa E. Cline and one step-grandson, Randy D. Nelson.
Funeral services for Maurice were Sunday, July 30, at 3:30 p.m. in the
Sheldon-Goodrich Chapel, with Rev. J.A. Hartley officiating.
Music selections were "Suppertime" and "In the Garden" by OSage
Country Gospel Band.
Casketbearers were C.W. Gusewelle, Roy Dean Simmons, Dale Masten,
Larry Shepherd, Jim Bock and Stoney Bock.
Interment in Mt. Zion Cemetery under the arrangements of
Sheldon-Goodrich Funeral Home, Osceola.
URICH, Laura L. Humphrey

Mrs. Laura Urich Dies Quickly - Tuesday P.M. -
Mrs. Laura Urich died at her home in Osceola a little before three
o'clock Tuesday afternoon.
That morning she complained to her neighbor, Mrs. Perrin, that she
had such a pain in her left side that she would not have washed if
she had not already begun.
She returned home and a little after one, neighbors across the street
heard her moaning and went to her.
Her daughter, Mrs. Fred Brown, and Mr. Brown were called and a doctor
relieved her suffering temporarily.
About an hour later she had another attack, and was gone before a
physician could reach her.
Her brother, Price Humphrey, who lives with her was out of town for
the day.
Funeral services will be Friday afternoon at the Christian church.
Interment in the Osceola cemetery.
URTON, Maude Alice Rush
Clinton MO - Mrs. Maude Urton of Blairstown died at the home of her
daughter, Pauline, at 5 p.m. Monday,
December 12, near Jefferson City, where she had gone three weeks ago
for a visit. She had not been robust
since a stroke about two years ago but was as well as usual and
pneumonia, contracted while on the visit,
claimed her life. Maude Rush was born in February 1875, the daughter
of John Rush and Mary Wall Rush of
old and distinguished Henry County family. She attended the local
schools and became a member of the
Christian Church, a fine noble woman, generous to all, pleasant and
kind, trusting to the extent of personal
loss at times, but never losing her confidence in the goodness of
mankind. Marrying Mr. Urton in early life
she made her home at several different places in Missouri where he was
employed by the Katy R.R., last
living at ElDorado Springs where he died about three years ago. After
the death of her husband Mrs. Urton
moved back to the home of her girlhood, near her mother, who is now 89
years old. Mrs. Rush gave her
daughter 80 acres adjoining Blairstown and there she built a little
new frame house and with her lived her
daughter, Mrs. Roy Nichols, and her husband. The other two Urton
daughters also married, the above mentioned daughter of near Jefferson
City, and a third daughter, Mrs. Glenn Harggart, of Kansas City. The
funeral services were conducted by Rev. Holland of Urich at the
Presbyterian Church, Blairstown, and interment was in the Blairstown
cemetery. W. R. Phipps, R. A. Wall, Will Simpson, Manford Hughes, Ira
Wall and A. M. Wall acted as pallbearers.
