ZEILER, Amelia Malzina Denney
Lowry City Independent Newspaper, Friday, 24 February 1911. Submitted by Mary Zeiler
The relentless foe of humanity, death, from which there is no escape, has again come into our midst and entered the happy home of John W. Denney and removed from the family circle, the loving wife and tender mother and from the community, an esteemed and honoured woman. Amelia Malzina Zeiler was born on the 26th day of February, 1861 in Indiana and died at her home, two miles southwest of Lowry City, February 21, 1911. Cause of death, pneumonia. Deceased was reared in St. Clair County and at the age of 18 years, united with the M.E. Church and lived a true and exemplary Christian life until her summons came to go and forever to remain in the presence of the One whom she had so faithfully followed. She was united in marriage to John W. Denney, August 28, 1882. To this union, nine children were born, seven daughters and two sons, one dying in infancy. The rest survive her and all except one daughter, Mrs. Ida Simpson of Hazelton, and with the kindly assistance of friends, everything that was possible to do was done to alleviate her suffering, but when the Master called, could only weep and say "Thy will be done." The bereaved husband and children have the heartfelt sympathies of the whole community. It is natural for us to ween over the loss of one we had learned to love so dearly, but let us take renewed courage and cling closer to the blessed promise of Him who has power to unite all broken ties in the sweet world beyond. Funeral services were held in the M.E. Church, South on Thursday, February 23rd at 2:00 PM by Rev. S.D. May of the Baptist Church, in the presence of a large assemblage of sympathizing friends who join the husband, children and other relatives in mourning the loss of one beloved by all, after which the body was laid to rest in the Barnett Cemetery to await the Resurrection Morn.
